Scotland

Scotland hasn’t had much practice in the form of international T20 matches since the last time it played the T20 World Cup. They have played just 2 international games, both against New Zealand and were thrashed all around the park, with the Black Caps scoring 254 and 225 in the two matches.

Nevertheless, they have started their warm-up campaign on a positive note, defeating the Netherlands by 18 runs in the first game. Batting first, Scotland put up 151/7 in their quota of 20 overs, thanks to Richie BaBarrington's 41 off 29 deliveries, and a late cameo by Michael Leask, who scored 37 off 21 deliveries. Despite a good fightback by the Netherlands, some tight bowling by Mark Watt and Brad Wheal ensured that there were no hiccups toward the end.

Scotland's batting has shown promise and its bowling is effective in the shortest format as well. Having a number of players that play on the English County circuit is a big advantage for Scotland.

United Arab Emirates

While UAE did lose its warm-up match against the West Indies, the team will surely be taking a few positives from that match. Batting first, the West Indies put up a stiff target of 153 runs for the UAE to win. Muhammad Waseem played exceptionally well at the top of the order, scoring an unbeaten 69 of 52 deliveries, but he received no support at the other end. Zawar Farid did show flashes of brilliance towards the end, scoring a quick 29, but that effort went in vain as UAE fell short by 17 runs.

Despite the resolution shown by the UAE players, we do not think that they will be able to cause much trouble to what seems to be a much well-balanced Scotland team.
