Sunrisers Eastern Cape

Sunrisers Eastern Cape was chasing a huge target in their previous match against the Capitals and never really managed to get ahead in the chase. Aiden Markram played some beautiful shots and threatened to put up a fight but even when he was in, the rate was always climbing. 

JJ Smuts seemed to have a lot of intent but the execution was missing, as was also the case with Tristan Stubbs. Perhaps the pitch had slowed down by the time the Sunrisers came into bat but the difference in performances was pretty massive. 

This lack of batting form and depth concerns us going into this match as well. Sunrisers are going to be up against a strong bowling unit and could struggle to get the required runs to compete. Also, their own bowling attack has not been the most consistent so far. 

Ottniel Baartman has shown potential as a death bowler and Sisanda Magala was impressive in the previous match but a lot still depends on the performances of Marco Jansen. Brydon Carse and James Fuller were very expensive in their previous outing and will be under pressure coming into this match. 

MI Cape Town

MI Cape Town crushed a listless Joburg Super Kings team in their previous match. Kagiso Rabada was brilliant on his SA 20 debut and ended up with 2 wickets for just 12 runs in his four overs. He was also helped by George Linde, Waqar Salamkheil, and Rashid Khan, all of whom bowled brilliantly and kept the runs down. 

Having three quality spinners can be a big advantage for MI Cape Town as we have seen a lot of teams struggle against spin in SA 20 already. Sam Curran and Odean Smith rounded out the bowling unit in the previous match. 

Drafting in Smith for the previous match probably had as much to do with his big-hitting potential down the order as anything else. He will just help lengthen the batting lineup a bit and provide a bit more cushion. The standout batter for MI Cape Town has been Dewald Brevis. He has been the top-scorer in both the matches that they have won so far and we think the rest of the batting could be under pressure if he falls early. 

Ryan Rickelton, Grant Roelofsen, and Rassie van der Dussen are the three South African top order batters that need to step up and take the pressure off of Sam Curran down the order.
