SHS vs RKS Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jan 30, 2019

The Sylhet Sixers have hit a patch of good form at this late stage in the Bangladesh Premier League and have won their last two matches handsomely. The Rajshahi Kings have continued to be their inconsistent selves and come into this match on the back of a loss to the Rangpur Riders.

It is highly unlikely that any of the two teams competing in this match are going to be a part of the BPL playoffs. All they can do at this point is win their remaining matches and hope for a miracle.

The Sylhet Sixers and the Rajshahi Kings played just five days back and that ended in a heavy defeat for the Rajshahi Kings. Can the Sylhet Sixers repeat that performance and continue to end the BPL on a strong note or will the Rajshahi Kings exact revenge in this match?

SHS vs RKS Team Previews

Sylhet Sixers

The Sylhet Sixers have hit a good patch of form thanks to some good form shown by their senior players. Sabbir Rahaman has responded to the news of his inclusion in the national side with a lot of positivity while Taskin Ahmed seems to be finding the kind of form that catapulted him into the limelight in the first place.

The addition of Jason Roy for the remainder of the BPL is also a positive development. Jason Roy has shown to have the ability to play attacking cricket but we think he is going to have a tough time once the spinners figure the areas to bowl him at.

Never the less, the presence of Nicholas Pooran and Liton Das in the playing eleven makes the Sylhet SIxers a formidable side. If Jason Roy and Nicholas Pooran can get going in the same match then the fireworks are going to be something truly special.

The Sylhet SIxers are going to be happy that Atif Hossain and Mohammad Nawaz got some runs in the last match.

The bowling is also looking pretty solid thanks to Taskin Ahmed and Sohail Tanvir performing well. Sohail Tanvir is one of the most underrated bowlers on the T20 circuit and it is strange to not have him be a part of the Pakistani plans anymore. The Sylhet Sixers have so much talent in their ranks that their performance is really one of the shocks of this season.

The Sylhet Sixers are going to go into this match with good memories of having beaten the Rajshahi Kings and current form on their side.

Sylhet Sixers Playing 11

Liton Das, Afif Hossain, JJ Roy, Sabbir Rahman, Nicholas Pooran, Mohammad Nawaz, Nabil Samad, Alok Kapali, S Tanvir, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadat Hossain.

Rajshahi Kings

Back to back games for the Rajshahi Kings are going to take a physical toll on the players and add another hurdle that the players have to overcome. Another inept batting performance from the Rajshahi Kings saw them crash to a defeat against the Rangpur Riders.

Laurie Evans threatened to do something special for some time but his timing was not at his best and he ended up scoring 35 off 31 balls. It took some lusty hits from Fazle Mahmud and Qais Ahmed to get the Rajshahi Kings to a reasonable total.

With four Bangladeshi international players in the side, the Rajshahi Kings must have expected to do better than they did. Soumya Sarkar, Mominul Haque, Mehidy Hasan, and Mustafizur Rahman are all in the first choice playing eleven for Bangladesh yet they have been unable to combine with any sort of consistency.

To be fair, though, Mehidy Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman have done their share of the job with the ball while the batsmen have been completely hopeless.

It is difficult to see things changing around in the final few matches of the BPL. Johnson Charles, Laurie Evans, and Christiaan Jonker are good players but they are not counted among the elite of the T20 world.

Johnson Charles is a glorified slogger who had a good CPL but his productivity in Bangladeshi conditions is definitely questionable. We don’t think the Rajshahi Kings are going to be able to get their batting going against a pretty decent Sylhet Sixers side.

The only way that we can see the Rajshahi Kings be competitive is through their bowling, specifically through the performances of Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy Hasan. Looking at the current state of the Rajshahi Kings, though, the chances of their fans being disappointed are very high.

Rajshahi Kings Playing 11

J Charles, Soumya Sarkar, Laurie Evans, RN ten Doeschate, Christiaan Jonker, Shahriar Nafees, Kamrul Islam, Mehidy Hasan, A Sunny, Zakir Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman.

Pitch and Conditions

The Bangladesh Premier League match between the Sylhet Sixers and the Rajshahi Kings is going to be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. The weather is expected to be clear during match day.

The pitch at Chittagong has started to show some signs of wear and is starting to slow up just a little. The scores have been around 180 for most of the matches held here but we suspect that will go down to around 160 for the final few matches being held at the venue.

Expect the spinners to play an ever-increasing role.

SHS vs RKS Betting Tips

The Sylhet Sixers have started to get their act together even though it is probably too late to salvage their season. They have a good batting unit where the senior players are hitting form and a very decent bowling lineup. The Rajshahi Kings also have a good bowling unit but their batting is just too inconsistent to be able to back.

Back the Sylhet Sixers to win.
