India managed to win a close contest against Bangladesh and is now the second team to have qualified for the ICC World Cup 2019 semi-final. Its last match is against Sri Lanka which may not be a match with a lot of consequence attached to it, but it is not entirely inconsequential either.
India is currently second on the league table and is likely to stay there even if it loses the last match to Sri Lanka. However, if Australia loses its last match to South Africa then India could move up to the top-spot and possibly avoid England in the semi-final stage.
For Sri Lanka, this match is another opportunity to try and invest in its cricket. A win against India could help it finish on 10 points, which is more than what anyone expected of them before the ICC World Cup 2019 started. They have uncovered a couple of players to watch out for in the future and would love to finish with a win against the number one ranked ODI nation in the world.
Sri Lanka vs India ICC World Cup 2019 is going to be played at Headingley, Leeds on the 6th of July.
A much-improved performance from Sri Lanka in the last few matches have given its supporters something to cheer about. The win against the West Indies was special because it came through an excellent batting performance from Avishka Fernando.
Fernando has impressed in every single game that he has played and definitely looks like a bright star for Sri Lanka. Dimuth Karunaratne started the tournament well while Kusal Perera has been excellent right throughout also.
If Kusal Mendis can start converting his immense potential into performance and Angelo Matthews can return to his best batting form then the Sri Lankan batting starts to look quite dangerous. They are going to be tested against India who possesses the best bowling attack in ICC World Cup 2019.
Sri Lanka has also been dominated by India in recent times. It has lost 12 out of the last 14 matches against India and that includes two 5-0 series results. For inspiration, Sri Lanka must look back to the Champions Trophy 2017 when Sri Lanka managed to pull off a remarkable chase and win against all odds.
To win against India, not only must players like Perera, Fernando, Mendis, and Matthews score runs but the bowling attack also must perform better than it has so far.
A combination of injuries, poor form, and age has meant that Sri Lanka has one of the weakest bowling attacks in the tournament. The experiment of trying out Jeffrey Vandersay against the West Indies was not very successful. He ended up giving 50 runs in seven overs and could not be trusted to bowl out his overs.
Kasun Rajitha also gave away 76 runs in his ten overs. Unfortunately, there are not too many options for Sri Lanka in the squad and so they may just continue to play with the same personnel.
An inspirational performance from Lasith Malinga seems to be the best hope but India is the one country against whom he has his worst record.
Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Perera, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis , Thisara Perera, HDRL Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Dhananjaya de Silva, Isuru Udana, Kasun Rajitha, Lasith Malinga.
The last league match for India is not going to be taken lightly. It looks very likely that India is going to be playing against England in the semi-final at Edgbaston. A couple of unexpected results in the final round of matches could change that equation but at the moment it seems the most likely outcome.
India will not want to go into its semi-final with a loss. In fact, unless there is an injury concern to one of the players, we are sure that India will play its best eleven.
India played without Kuldeep Yadav in the previous match and instead picked Buvaneshwar Kumar. That could be because of the small boundary on one side at Edgbaston. Will Ravindra Jadeja get a go in this match to see if he can somehow fit in the team for the semi-final? That is the one chance that the team management could take.
Ravindra Jadeja can bat at number 7 and be relied upon to bowl his full quota of overs. This will give India six bowling options now that Hardik Pandya is able to do the job of the fifth bowler consistently. It is also not going to dent India’s batting too much.
There are some concerns in the batting department also which India would want to rectify in this match. Recognizing the fact that getting off to faster starts is necessary in England and also ensuring that the middle order is able to take advantage during the death overs are things that the Indian team would want to work on.
We don’t expect India to lose this match although they could get tested. India was pushed to the brink against Afghanistan, lost to England, and then had a close game against Bangladesh as well. Who is to say that Sri Lanka will not test India?
Rohit Sharma has four centuries in the ICC World Cup 2019 while Virat Kohli has five fifties. India needs both these players to be in top gear during this final stage of the tournament. They both have excellent records against Sri Lanka and may be looking to use this opportunity to get into the right frame of mind for the challenges ahead.
Lokesh Rahul, Rohit Sharma, V Kohli, RR Pant, MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, JJ Bumrah.
The team winning the toss is likely to want to bat first. The surface is expected to break-up and become much more difficult to bat as the match progresses.

India vs Sri Lanka ICC World Cup 2019 is going to be played at Headingley, Leeds. The weather forecast for Headingly on Saturday is very good. We should have sunny skies and an uninterrupted game to enjoy.
The pitches in England seem to be getting slower with every match. The team batting first has a big advantage. Spin played a big role during the match between Afghanistan and Pakistan here. We could see another game where a score of 270 is very difficult to chase.
We have followed a simple strategy while making our Dream11 team for India vs Sri Lanka ICC World Cup 2019. The pitch at Headingley is expected to be a bit slow and not the best for batting and the team batting first will have a big advantage. While both India and Sri Lanka have some brilliant batsmen, their bowling has been quite terrible in the world cup. This is why we have focused on the leading batsmen from both the teams and bowlers from only the Indian team. The captain and vice-captain are chosen assuming that India is going to bat first. As always, we will be updating our Dream11 team for Sri Lanka vs India ICC World Cup 2019 on Twitter after the toss. Follow @cricketbettings for the latest updates.
Wicketkeeper: Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis are two good options in this category. We also have the option of choosing MS Dhoni or Rishab Pant but we are passing on both of them. Dhoni is out of form and struggles on slow pitches while Rishab Pant was left out for the sake of our Dream11 team balance.
Perera has been in very good form and has helped Sri Lanka get off to some fantastic starts.
Batsmen: We have chosen Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Lokesh Rahul, Avishka Fernando, and Lahiru Thirimanne in our Dream11 team for this match. India’s top-order batting is very strong and could do the bulk of the scoring against a weak bowling attack like Sri Lanka. Adding Avishka Fernando and Lahiru Thirimanne to the team means that we now have the top-order from both the teams scoring points for us.
The new ball is the best time to bat on slow pitches and so hopefully a couple of our players will make it count.
All-rounders: We have only picked Hardik Pandya from this category. He has been promoted up the order in every single match till now and done well on most occasions. He is also bowling his full quota of ten overs in every match.
Bowlers: Mohammad Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar are the three bowlers we have selected for our Dream11 team. Shami has been in superb wicket-taking form while Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is very effective in the powerplay as well. Chahal has struggled a bit in the last two matches but he should be effective on a pitch expected to take turn.
Captain and Vice-Captain: We have selected Rohit Sharma as captain and Virat Kohli as vice-captain for this match.

India is through to the semi-final and this game does not hold much consequence for them. Sri Lanka is also out of the running for the knockout stage and has nothing to lose. Both teams would like to win because of the stage they are playing on but it is easy to see why Sri Lanka might just be lacking a bit of motivation.
India’s recent record against Sri Lanka is amazing and we think they can win this match even if they play to 80% of their potential. The gap between the teams is just too vast right now.
Bet on India to win.
