The St. Lucia Zouks were destroyed by the Barbados Tridents and fell further behind in the race to make the CPL 2019 Playoffs. Considering the fact that four out of the six teams competing in the Caribbean Premier League are going to make the playoffs, it is harder to not make it in than it is to actually qualify!
The Trinbago Knight Riders are not going to be concerned about qualification scenarios. They have won four out of the five matches they have played and are in second place right now. They will want to continue winning and ensure they stay in the top-2, though, to get two chances of making it to the CPL 2019 final.
St. Lucia Zouks vs Trinbago Knight Riders CPL 2019 is going to be played at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St. Lucia on the 21st of September 2019.
The St. Lucia Zouks were decent in the bowing department without being outstanding and conceded 172 against the Barbados Tridents. It was not a big total by any stretch of the imagination although we are sure that the Zouks may have felt they could have kept them down to an even smaller total.
As things turned out, though, it did not make a difference.
The St. Lucia Zouks batting completely imploded and they were bowled out for 101.
Rakheem Cornwall hit his first two calls for boundaries before getting out on the third, Andre Fetcher looked out of touch, Colin Ingram threw away his wicket, and Kavem Hodge was run out ball watching. Only Collin de Grandhomme played a few shots and actually looked like he was going to score some runs.
This is the risk that is always going to be there with the St. Lucia batting lineup. It is not the deepest of batting units and when there are a couple of early wickets, the side can just collapse. Adding Colin Ingram to the top-order is a big plus for the Zouks because we think he is too good a player to fail consistently.
The bowing was not helped by some poor tactics from Darren Sammy. Obed McCoy and Fawad Ahmed, easily the two best bowlers for the St. Lucia Zouks were not allowed to bowl out their full overs. The talent is certainly there in the bowling attack to give the Trinbago Knight Riders a tough fight.
Rahkeem Cornwall, ADS Fletcher , Colin Ingram, John Campbell, Colin de Grandhomme, DJG Sammy, Chris Barnwell, Jeavor Royal, Hardus Viljoen, KOK Williams, Fawad Ahmed.
The Tringbago Knight Riders were finally stopped in their tracks by a herculean performance from Carlos Brathwaite in their previous match. The Trinbago Knight Riders batted brilliantly to score 216 from just 20 overs helped by 90 from Lendl Simmons and quick cameos from every single other batsman that came to the crease.
They may have failed to defend that large total but it took something really special to first tie the game in regulation time and then win in the Super-Over.
We have no doubt that the Trinbago Knight Riders have the best batting lineup in CPL 2019.
Lendl Simmons, Colin Munro, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo, Jimmy Neesham, and Denesh Ramdin are all in superb form. Even Mark Deyal, who opened the batting in the previous match seemed to be a fantastic player.
We also like the captaincy of Kieron Pollard. He is very instinctive in nature and not afraid to change things up. His role in the batting lineup is more than just a hitter and he is taking responsibility of winning matches for his side.
The bowling lineup is also pretty good although Ali Khan has not had the kind of tournament he did last season. Kharry Pierre, James Neesham (who gave away the most expensive spell in CPL history in the previous match), Kieron Pollard, Anderson Phillip, and Seekkuge Prasanna are all decent bowlers.
They missed Sunil Narine in the previous match and are also missing Dwayne Bravo when it comes to the death overs bowling.
The Trinbago Knight Riders are the defending champions of the CPL and are playing like the team to beat this season as well.
LMP Simmons, Colin Munro, Denesh Ramdin, Darren Bravo, James Neesham, Kieron Pollard, S Prasanna, AJ Hosein, Khary Pierre, Anderson Phillip, Ali Khan.
The team that wins the toss may want to field first with rain expected to cause interruptions.

St. Lucia Zouks vs Trinbago Knight Riders CPL 2019 is going to be played at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St. Lucia on the 21st of September 2019. There is a high chance of rain causing an interruption in this match. Hopefully, the island weather will remain as fickle as always and change around quickly.
The pitch at the Darren Sammy Stadium is pretty good for batting. There was good bounce in the surface and the ball came on to the bat nicely. There are a lot of runs to be had for the batsmen at this venue.
The Trinbago Knight Riders are the stronger team in this contest by any metric that you can think of. They have a stronger batting unit, a better bowling lineup, and are in better form.
Bet on the Trinbago Knight Riders to win.
