SLL vs ENGL Match Prediction - Mar 14, 2021

Even though the players involved in the series are not from the current batch, Road Safety Series is certainly grabbing a lot of attention and many eyeballs with the kind of matches it is producing. We have already seen some spectacular performances from the legends leading to some well-fought matches. We expect the trend to continue in the upcoming matches as well.

As we move closer to the knockouts, the importance of each match is beginning to grow. The upcoming match between England Legends and Sri Lanka Legends will be the one to watch out for as both sides will want to win this one so as to maintain their supremacy on the points table. The match is to be played on 14th March 2021 at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur.

SLL vs ENGL Team Previews

Sri Lanka Legends

Currently placed at the second spot on the points table, Sri Lanka are without a doubt the second-best team in the competition. The only defeat they have faced in the tournament came at the hands of India, who are looking in a rampaging form at the moment. Sri Lanka also happens to have a terrific net run-rate of 1.055, which speaks volumes about how dominant they have been in the tournament.

In the five matches played, Sri Lanka have won four and lost one. With three wins in the last three matches, Sri Lanka Legends are high on momentum and will be brimming with confidence. In their last match, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by a massive margin of 42 runs as Upul Tharanga played a sensational knock to take his side to a total of 180. Bowlers did the rest of the work as Sri Lanka ended up as winners.

Sri Lanka have one of the better-balanced sides with excellent aggression and stability. While Sanath Jayasuriya's form will be a concern for the Lankans, the other players' form is certainly a plus. Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, and Chamara Silva have looked good with the bat and are likely to play another important role in the upcoming match. Dhammika Prasad and Farveez Maharoof bowled with control and accuracy in the last match and could be the ones to watch out for in the bowling department. They have the decent talent available in other players as well and if they can deliver, Sri Lanka will be a tough side to defeat.

Sri Lanka Legends Playing 11

TM Dilshan, Malinda Warnapura, WU Tharanga, Chamara Silva, Farveez Maharoof, Russel Arnold, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dhammika Prasad, Rangana Herath, HCU Jayasinghe, Kaushalya Weeraratne.

England Legends

England joined the Road Safety Series a little late and that might cost them a spot in the semifinal if they aren't able to register a win here against Sri Lanka. At the moment, England Legends are just outside the top four, at the fifth spot, but a win here should be enough to push them into the semifinals.

In the three matches that England have played, they have won two and lost one. Their only loss came at the hands of South Africa legends, the loss which really hampered England's net run-rate. Batting failed dramatically for England in that match as they were bundled out for a total of just 121. South Africa chased that total down with significant ease, winning the match with eight wickets in hand and 42 balls to spare.

On paper, England do not have the star-power that few of the other teams have, at least on paper. Having said that, Kevin Pietersen and Monty Panesar have been in terrific form for them and will likely be the trump cards for the English team. They would need the other players to do well too and if that happens, Sri Lanka will have their work cut out.

England Legends Playing 11

Phil Mustard, KP Pietersen, Owais Shah, Usman Afzaal, Darren Maddy, Jim Troughton, Chris Schofield, Chris Tremlett, James Tredwell, MS Panesar, Matthew Hoggard.

SLL vs ENGL Betting Tips

Sri Lanka are already through to the playoffs and might want to rest a couple of players in this match. If they do that, England might well have a window of opportunity to get under the skin of a high-flying Sri Lankan team. Comparing the two sides on paper, Sri Lanka are certainly a better-balanced team with contributions coming in from a more number of players. England, on the other hand, are a little too over-reliant on Kevin Pietersen and Monty Panesar. For those reasons, we think that betting on a Sri Lankan win should be the way to go.
