The group stage of the Caribbean Premier League 2020 is just about to end. The final match CPL 2020 group is going to be played between the St. Lucia Zouks and the Jamaica Tallawahs. Both teams would have played an additional match by the time this match rolls around and so the position of the CPL table might be a bit different.
As it stands the St. Lucia Zouks are third and the Jamaica Tallawahs are fourth. If, however, the Zouks lose their next and the Tallawahs win theirs then this match could be one for the third spot on the table. Remember that the third-placed team avoids the currently unstoppable TKR team and so there is a lot of motivation to try and win.
St. Lucia Zouks vs Jamaica Tallawahs CPL T20 2020 is going to be played at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad on the 5th of September 2020.
The Zouks have outperformed all expectations. There is no doubt that they were one of the least fancied and weakest sides on paper. 5 wins out of 8 matches later, the Zouks are a sure semi-finalist and have given their detractors plenty to think about.
The success that the Zouks have got is down to some very good bowling from their attack. The likes of Scott Kuggeleijn, Kesrick Williams, Mohammad Nabi, and even Javele Glen have all put in some wonderful bowling performances.
The Zouks know that the Tallawahs are perhaps one of the most unpredictable batting lineups in CPL 2020. They have an amazing amount of power on paper that never seems to translate well on to the field.
The Zouks must sort out their batting and try to get their best players in form. Rakheem Cornwall, Andre Fletcher, and Mohammad Nabi have to be at their best if the Zouks want to win their semi-final and maybe even challenge for the title.
A lot to play for in this match then.
ADS Fletcher, N Zadran, DJG Sammy, Javelle Glen, Mark Deyal, Mohammad Nabi, Roston Chase, Rahkeem Cornwall, KOK Williams, Zahir Khan, Obed McCoy.
Somehow, even after all the turmoil in their camp, the Jamaica Tallawahs have made it to the CPL 2020 playoffs. If they win their last two matches, they could even finish in the top-3 and avoid a match against TKR.
That is not an easy task, though.
For one, the Jamaica Talawahs have not been able to bat to their potential. Andre Russell has played some heroic innings but even he has been unable to drag the side to victory. Glenn Phillips has suddenly lost his fast starts and momentum, although, he does manage to stick around for a long time. Not a good combination for a T20 opener.
Nkrummah Bonner is a work in progress and Jermaine Blackwood is not known for his T20 exploits either. This leaves the wildly unpredictable Asif Ali and Rovman Powell. We know they can be match-winners but the wait in between those match-winning performances is often too long.
Carlos Brathwaite has also foud scoring runs very difficult this season.
Mujeeb ur Rehman and Sandeep Lamichhane are going to lead the attack for the Jamaica Tallawahs.
They are quality spinners but need some support from the batting team.
Barring an Andre Russell special, we fail to see how the Jamaica Tallawahs are going to go too much further in this competition.
GD Phillips, CAK Walton, Rovman Powell, Jermaine Blackwood, Nicholas Kirton, Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, FH Edwards, Sandeep Lamichhane, Veerasammy Permaul.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first to take advantage of the better batting conditions. The pitch helps the spinners a lot more as the game progresses.

There is a lot of rain around in Trinidad and it threatens to spoil the entire playoff part of CPL 2020. The groundstaff has been excellent so far and we have been able to get most matches so there is reason for hope just yet. This match is going to be played later in the day when the rain usually subsides.
The pitch is going to be slow and helpful to the spinners. That is not something that the Tallawahs batsmen want to hear and we think the advantage is going to be in favor of the Zouks.
We think the St. Lucia Zouks are the team to back in this contest. Their superior bowing attack could run through the Jamaica Tallawahs batting lineup. We have also seen consistently how the Jamaica Tallawahs employ terrible tactics and end up hurting themselves in this tournament.
Bet on the St. Lucia Zouks to win.
