We are almost into the final two weeks in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League, and things still look far from settled, as far as the points table is concerned. Barring Guyana Amazon Warriors, who are sitting pretty at the top of the table, none of the sides look certain of a playoff spot. Placed at number three and five respectively, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St Lucia Zouks have a bit of work to do to strengthen their position in the top-four. They play their next match against each other, the result of which could be decisive in the campaigns of both sides. The game is to be played on 24th September at Darren Sammy Cricket Ground, Gros Islet, St Lucia.
St Lucia Zouks have played six matches in the tournament so far and have just one win to their name. Thanks to that win and a wash-out, they have three points to their name and are placed at the second spot from the bottom. While their chances to qualify from here are slim, all is still not lost. Wins in all their remaining matches should put them in a pretty good position, which, of course, is difficult, but not impossible.
They had a poor start to the tournament, and their win over Jamaica Tallawahs was the only spike in their graph. Against Barbados Tridents, in their most recent encounter, their batsmen failed to occupy the crease - as has been the case in the whole tournament, resulting in a massive 71-run loss.
Earlier with the ball, their bowlers did reasonably well to keep Tridents to a total of just 172. Their last match was washed out due to rain wherein their batsmen looked under pressure. Batting first, St Lucia Zouks were reduced to 99 for four before rain intervened and no further play was possible.

With eight points to their name and third position at the points table, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots may look well settled to qualify for the playoffs; they'll be as desperate for a win in the upcoming contest as anyone else in the tournament. They have just two matches remaining in the league stage, and a win in any of those will ascertain a berth for them in the playoffs.
The Patriots had a poor start to the tournament, but with three wins in the last three matches, they appear to be picking up the pace just at the right time. Their fantastic run started with a win over the team they are going to face in the upcoming match. They then got two crucial points against Trinbago Knight Riders followed by a fantastic win over Jamaica Tallawahs.
The fact that St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are the only team to score the totals of 200 and over so often speaks volumes about their superb batting order. They have potent hitters available in their batting in Evin Lewis, Laurie Evans, and Carlos Brathwaite along with a couple of experienced and cool-headed batsmen. The bowling, however, has been a cause of concern for them and if they can improve in that department, the Patriots might end up going all the way in the tournament.
DC Thomas, Evin Lewis, Laurie Evans, Mohammad Hafeez, Shamarh Brooks, Carlos Brathwaite, F Allen, Keron cottoy, RR Emrit, Alzarri Joseph, Jeremiah Louis.

While the two teams are placed pretty close to each other on the points table, there is a stark difference in how the two sides have performed in the tournament so far. While the Patriots have done well to win three games in a row and inch closer to the playoffs in process, St Lucia have only disappointed. Between the two sides, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have more chances to qualify from here and will be motivated to garner two more points. Comparing the two teams on the basis of their respective performances in the tournament so far and on paper, the Patriots are firm favorites to win the upcoming encounter.
