Although the rain has spoiled the mood of the fans in the ongoing Karnataka Premier League, it's been a blessing for a couple of teams as far as qualification to the next round is concerned. Having already won two in three games, Blasters are handsomely placed at the top of the table. Another win here should take cement their spot in the top four and they'll be looking to do just that in their upcoming game against Shivamogga Lions. Their match is set to be played on 25th August at Mysore. The Lions are placed at the bottom of the table with no win and a loss. They are in a desperate need of a win and will come out all guns blazing.
The Lions are one of the only two teams in the competition who haven't been affected by rain, yet. They still have plenty of time in the tournament with five more matches to go for them, but they'd like to register a win and get ahead of the lot.
They looked pretty out of sorts in their first match which they lost to Bijapur Bulls by a considerable margin of 25 runs. Their batting is led by wicket-keeper batsman Liyan Khan who played a sluggish 45-run knock in the last year's semifinal. The hard-hitting all-rounder, R Jonathan, played a good cameo of 29 for them and he, too, is expected to play a key role for them.
Bowling first against the Tigers, their bowlers didn't fare particularly poorly. Although they were expensive in parts, they continued to pick up wickets at regular intervals and succeeded in restricting the Tigers to a chasable score. However, their batsmen failed to play their part and they eventually lost the match.

The Blasters started their campaign in the competition in a blazing fashion with a massive win over the Panthers and haven't looked back since. They followed it up with a win against the Tuskers coming back from behind.
They've played a couple of completed games in this edition and have appeared to cover all their bases. They have a powerful batting lineup with the likes of M Vishwanathan and P Deshpande led by Robin Uthappa.
Their bowling, too, has done well for them in both the matches with V Koushik and M Bhandage being the pick of their bowlers. Koushik has been their most economical bowlers and has picked three wickets in the tournament. Bhandage has been brilliant in the middle and death overs and has six wickets to his name. With excellent bowling attack and a powerful batting lineup, the Blasters appear to be the team to beat this season.
M Vishwanathan, KB Pawan, RV Uthappa, Pavan Deshpande, AS Brar, Anand Doddamani, Abhisek Bhat, Manoj Bhandge, Mitrakanth-Yadav, Bharath Devraj, V Koushik.
Blasters are in an excellent position to qualify for the playoffs and will come out as a confident looking side on Saturday. On the other hand, The Lions didn't appear to be a confident unit against the Tigers. Considering the recent results and the teams on paper, the Blasters are better placed to prevail in this upcoming encounter.
