The Caribbean Premier League has been very exciting so far largely because every team has shown some weaknesses. A contest between two imperfect teams is always fun to watch as anything can happen. CPL T20 has a slightly tweaked format for its post-season. It’s a straight semi-final and final format so the top-4 teams after the end of the group stages all have an equal chance of winning the title.
At this early stage, the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots have emerged as the weakest team of CPL 2020. They have lost all three of their matches and now get ready to take on the Barbados Tridents. The defending champions have had a slow start themselves with two losses in three matches.
This is an important contest for both teams to get back some momentum in their campaign.
St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Barbados Tridents CPL T20 2020 is going to be played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on the 25th of August 2020.
All three matches that the Patriots have lost so far have been by narrow margins. A little bit of luck and their situation could have been much different but that is the way sport works. SNP has struggled massively with its batting.
Evin Lewis and Chris Lynn have not been able to provide them with any sort of momentum at the top of the order and Ben Dunk seems pretty out of form as well. These were the three senior T20 specialists that were supposed to carry the Patriots batting. If they don’t change things around then SNP is going to continue to struggle.
Denesh Ramdin scored 46 in the previous match and will be an important cog in the next match as well.
Not a single batsman from SNP has more than 100 runs to his name as of now.
Rayad Emrit has emerged as the leader of the bowling attack in this early stage of CPL T20 but he needs support to be able to win matches for SNP. Sheldon Cottrell and Sohail Tanvir have been quite expensive without picking up wickets.
The lack of spinners in the squad seems like a massive mistake and Ish Sodhi has not been able to live up to expectations so far. The change in venue should help SNP’s batsmen somewhat but it will still take something quite special for them to win.
Denesh Ramdin, Joshua De Silva, Chris Lynn, Evin Lewis, Ben Dunk, Nicholas Kelly, S Tanvir, RR Emrit, Alzarri Joseph, Jon-Russ Jaggesar, Imran Khan.
The only match that the Barbados Tridents have won so far has been against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. They will face up to them once more as the teams move to the Queen’s Park Oval. The balance of the side that the Tridents have been picking seems a bit off. It is hard to imagine that Hayden Walsh and Mitchell Santner would bowl just one over each in the previous match! Even Rashid Khan bowled just three overs.
There is no point in having three gun spinners if you don’t trust them enough to bowl them when it matters.
Ashley Nurse was in the team for the previous match as well, making it four spinners! The Barbados Tridents may want to drop Santner and bring in another hard-hitting batsman or a fast bowler.
Then there is Shai Hope. He opened the batting and ended with 36 from 38 deliveries. That is just not good enough in T20 cricket. All the momentum that was built up by Johnson Charles went to waste. Hope may need to change his approach or be dropped as well.
The Tridents should match up well against SNP, though. Their spin heavy attack is going to be difficult for the Patriots to score off easily and the Tridents batting also showed some encouraging signs in the previous match.
Johnson Charles, Shai Hope, Corey Anderson, Jason Holder, Mitchell Santner, Nyeem Young, Kyle Mayers, Rashid Khan, Hayden Walsh Jr, Raymon Reifer, Ashley Nurse.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. That has been the overwhelmingly popular way to go so far.

The weather forecast for this match is pretty good and it looks we might not have any rain to worry about. The pitch at the Queen’s Park Oval is usually a bit better to bat on than at the Brian Lara Stadium. We should see a flatter surface where the batsmen can hit through the line and not have to worry about the ball stopping on them.
A total of somewhere near 160-170 is the minimum that teams will be aiming for batting first.

We have no hesitation in recommending the Barbados Tridents for this match. They have some work to do but the quality of the players in their squad cannot be underestimated. Rashid Khan and company will fancy themselves against the SNP batting.
Bet on the Barbados Tridents to win.

The Barbados Tridents got off to a rollicking start in the previous match thanks to the presence of Johnson Charles. They do also have Shai Hope who is pretty slow to get off the blocks. On the other side are Chris Lynn and EVin Lewis, two batsmen that are more dangerous but whose form is pretty poor.
We think backing the Tridents is a good move here as SNP tends to lose a lot more wickets in the powerplay.

St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots ($2.05)

This bet can be a bit of hedge for the previous one. The Patriots have some tremendous hitter sof the ball and they will be facing a lot of spin. If any one of these batsmen gets in then the Patriots could win this bet pretty easily.
With Chris Lynn, Ben Dunk, and Evin Lewis on one side, this is not a bad defensive bet to make.

A small bet on this high-risk bet can help you get some brilliant returns. This match is being played at a new venue where the pitch is going to be better for batting than at the Brian Lara stadium. There are some very dangerous batsmen in the two teams and a century could easily be scored.
