This next CPL 2020 match is going to be played between the two worst teams of the Caribbean Premier League so far. The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots will be taking on the Jamaica Tallawahs. Both these teams are in the elimination zone at the moment with just one win from five matches for the Patriots and two wins from five matches for the Tallawahs.
Neither of the teams has looked like being competitive for elongated periods of time but the teams immediately above them have been quite inconsistent as well. A win here will put these times neck and neck with the teams above them and put them back in contention of the playoffs once more.
The new format of the CPL will allow teams to have just one good patch and make it into the playoffs. Which of the Tallawahs or the Patriots will be able to change things around in this match?
St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Jamaica Tallawahs CPL T20 2020 is going to be played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on the 29th of August 2020.
The Patriots were blown away by the Zouks in their most recent match. Chris Lynn continued his horror run in CPL T20 as the entire team was left clueless against Mohammad Nabi. The Patriots lost four wickets for 11 runs in the first three overs. That was the effective end of their challenge right there and that was exactly what happened.
We know coming into this edition of the Caribbean Premier League that the Patriots have a weak batting lineup. Evin Lewis, Chris Lynn, and Ben Dunk were supposed to do the bulk of the scoring for them but hat has not happened.
Lewis played a match-winning knock against the Tridents before this match and helped SNP get its only win so far. Those innings are not very common unfortunately and the other batsmen need to start chipping in.
The Patriots are going to be up against a strong bowling attack in the next match as well with Mujeeb ur Rahman and Sandeep Lamichhane to go up against.
A lack of quality spinners in the Patriots lineup is a big disadvantage as well, considering the kind of pitches this CPL is being played on.
Are Jon-Russ Jeggesar and Imran Khan good enough to win matches for SNP? We don’t think so. This is a bowling attack that needs some runs behind it to be effective.
At the moment, both the disciplines are failing the Patriots and they are left dependent on individual brilliance.
Denesh Ramdin, Chris Lynn, Evin Lewis, Ben Dunk, Nicholas Kelly, Kieran Powell, RR Emrit, Ish Sodhi, Jon-Russ Jaggesar, Imran Khan, Sheldon Cottrell.
The Jamaica Tallawahs are struggling in CPL 2020. They are struggling with off-field issues that keep distracting them, they are struggling with performances on the field, and we think they are struggling with player motivation.
Now, they have lost Ander Russell just when it seemed like he was getting back to his best. According to Rovman Powell, Andre Russell may be back for the latter stages of the CPL but is unlikely to play until then.
That is a huge blow. Without him, the challenge of scoring the runs falls on Glenn Phillips and Chadwick Walton. Phillips has played some encouraging cricket but is just looking a bit off the boil while Walton is finding it hard to get a run to his name at the moment.
We cannot trust Rovman Powell and Asif Ali to score runs consistently as dangerous as they can be. We just don’t see it often enough.
Both teams have a very weak batting, and without Russell, it is difficult to say that the Tallawahs are in any way better than the Patriots.
The strength of the Tallawahs are its quality spinners. Mujeeb ur Rahman and Sandeep Lamichhane are going to make life difficult for the Patriots, a team that struggled against Mohammad Nabi.
Veerasamy Permaul also had a decent outing in the previous match but the pacers for the Tallawahs have been quite expensive. Carlos Brathwaite gave away five sixes in succession in the previous match, Rovman Powell is a part-timer at best, and Fidel Edwards is not that dangerous anymore.
GD Phillips, CAK Walton, Rovman Powell, Asif Ali, NE Bonner, Jermaine Blackwood, Carlos Brathwaite, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, FH Edwards, Sandeep Lamichhane, Veerasammy Permaul.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first and that should be seen as a significant advantage.

The weather forecast for the matchday is pretty good. There is very little chance of rain and so we should have a full match to enjoy. The pitch has been helpful for the spinners and that is going to continue. It appears as if teams are still unsure as to what a good total is and tend to fall short while aiming too high.
Anything around 150 is going to be very competitive batting first and potentially match-winning.

We think that the Jamaica Tallawahs are a better bowling attack but their batting cannot be trusted. The Patriots are perhaps the weakest team in this competition, however, we do think they are quite capable of beating the Tallawahs without Andre Russell.
Two imperfect teams with major flaws could make for a very exciting contest.
Bet on the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots to win.
Two weak batting teams are playing each other and so you are getting some very good value for this bet. Any single player from both the teams could score a fifty and win you this bet. Looing at the kind of talent that we have on display, this is a no-brainer. 30% return for the taking.
This is a bet that could go either way but just look at the opening pair that the Patriots have. Evin Lewis is in good form and we have a feeling that Chris Lynn is going to come good sooner rather than later. Worth taking a risk especially considering how unpredictable the Tallawahs have been in their batting as well.
Once again, this is a high-risk high-reward bet. Evin Lewis is the most accomplished six hitter in this match but whether he gets any runs or not remains to be seen. We are feeling a bit bullish on him and think the return of nearly 4.5x is ludicrous! Take a punt on this one and it may just make your day.
