The troubles for St. Lucia Stars do not seem to end as their already poor net run rate has been docked further due to slow over rate. Already occupying the bottom-most spot in the points table, the penalty couldn't have come at a worse time. They'll not only need to win in their upcoming games but also win those with a big margin. Up next they're set to face St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, who lost to Guyana Amazon Warriors in their last game. With a need to win every match from here, it will be a do-or-die game for the Stars and we expect them to go all out on 30th August at Basseterre.
The Patriots continued to build onto their see-saw run in the tournament as they lost their last match to Guyana Amazon Warriors in a closely fought contest. Batting first after losing the toss, Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis provided them with a solid start.
Just when the things were looking ominous for Guyana Amazon Warriors, Keemo Paul got rid of the dangerous looking Chris Gayle which was followed by Tahir dismissing Lewis. Brandon King and DC Thomas, too, became the victims of Imran Tahir as the Patriots were reduced to 102 for 5. Anton Devcich and Ben Cutting provided some late but lusty blows to propel the Patriots to a fighting total.
With the bowlers picking up wickets at regular intervals, the Patriots were within the game until they lost. All it was needed for the Warriors was one partnership and Sohail Tanvir partnered well with RS Primus to guide them home. Carlos Brathwaite was the pick of Patriots' bowlers; he returned with the figures of 4-0-23-2. Ben Cutting, too, managed to get rid of two Warriors' batsmen, but he was a tad too expensive.

The haunting of last evening's loss against the Jamaica Tallawahs does not seem to end for the St. Lucia Stars. Not only did they lose that game, they failed to complete their overs in time, costing them the deduction of 0.15 from their already low net run rate.
The net run rate penalty added to their woes in what has already been a painful season for them. They've won just two out of eight games and despite the likes of David Warner, Andre Fletcher, Kieren Pollard, Lendl Simmons, and Darren Sammy, their batting has failed to perform more often than not.
Their batting did manage to salvage something out of a lost last game where they fell short of the target by 22 runs in a chase of 205. However, it was an utter bowling failure which allowed the Tallawahs to get to a massive total in the first place. David Warner, Kieren Pollard, and Lendl Simmons looked threatening after they were reduced to 52 for 3, but they all departed after brief cameos. Overall, the lack of a front-line bowler has been one of the root causes of their losses, and they'd need to come up with some solution quickly if they want to qualify for the playoffs.

It's going to be one of the most interesting games of the tournament, as far as qualification to the next round is concerned. The Stars are at the brink of an elimination and the Patriots could get into a similar position should they fail to lose this match. Despite a solid batting lineup, the Stars have failed to win on multiple occasions much largely due to the absence of an experienced bowler in their attack. We believe that the likes of Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis are likely to make use of that fact and will be tough to handle for the Stars' bowlers. For the above-mentioned reasons, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots are better placed to win in the upcoming contest.
