SNV vs VLY Match Prediction & Betting Tips - May 11, 2019
The Women’s T20 Challenge has been very closely contested so far. All the three teams in the competition have won one match each and the two finalists were eventually chosen by the help of the net run-rate. The Supernovas and Velocity are the two teams that will be playing the final of the Women’s T20 Challenge.
This tournament has been a sort of a test run for maybe a women’s IPL down the road. Giving it a completely standalone final is a big step and something that will definitely help see the kind of public support for this product.
It also helps that the two women leading these sides were at apparent odds with each other during the recently concluded Women’s WorldT20. A little bit of controversy never hurt anyone. Will Harmanpreet Kaur be able to lead her side to victory or will Mithali Raj surprise people with her T20 prowess?
SNV vs VLY Team Previews
Supernovas Women
On paper, it appeared before the tournament that the Supernovas had put together the best set of players in this tournament. They were led by India’s T20 skipper, had some of the best-regarded batters to help lead the way, and a bowling attack that is very capable of picking up wickets.
This is why their defeat in the first match was a shock.
However, pushed into a must-win situation against Velocity in the last group match, the Supernovas came up trumps. Now, they have to do the same in the final of the Women’s T200 Challenge.
The spotlight is going to be on Supernovas batting. Jemimah Rodrigues made 77 not out from just 48 deliveries and won fans all over the world thanks to her pure style of batting. She is going to leading the batting once again supported by the aggressive Chamari Athapaththu and Harmanpreet Kaur.
Kaur has played in T20 leagues around the world and knows exactly what it takes to win. Her power in the lower middle order adds a lot of depth to the Supernovas batting.
There are also some well-regarded world beaters in the side like Sophie Devine, Nate Sciver, and some all-rounders to balance the side. We would love to Devine open the inning the final and be able to have the maximum possible impact.
Nate Sciver, Sophie Devine, and Poonam Yadav are the three stalwarts of the bowling attack. All three have a lot of experience of bowing in T20 conditions and can provide the kind of balance that Kaur likes to have.
Radha Yadav, Karmanpreet Kaur, and Anuja Patil provide a lot of options in the bowling category as well.
The bowling for the Supernovas is not weak by any stretch of the imagination but it is definitely an area where Velocity will be trying to target them.

Velocity Women
An extremely poor and safety first approach was taken by Velocity in the previous match. The team had one eye on the net run-rate and was focused on qualifying for the final rather than trying to win. It is not the kind of approach that we like to see in T20 cricket and an approach like this shows the mentality of the leadership.
Velocity was chasing a par total of 143 and ended up 130 for three after their 20 overs. They had seven wickets in hand and did not make any real effort of trying to get to the total at any stage. Mithali Raj and Veda Krishnamurthy, two of India’s most senior batters were well set at the crease when this happened.
Velocity can be expected to come out in a much more aggressive manner in this match for sure.
We are looking at Hayley Matthews, Shafali Verma, Danielle Wyatt, and even Mithali Raj to bat with more intent in the final. This is a strong batting lineup, one that can match the Supernovas blow for blow.
The trick for Velocity is going to be making sure that its overseas batters are able to tackle the slower sub-continental conditions properly. Matthews is going to be the key batter for Velocity because if she gets going then the match could become completely one-sided in a hurry.
The bowling for Velocity is going to be led by Shikha Pandey and Jahanara Alam. They also have the brilliant Amelia Kerr in their side. Kerr probably does not have too much experience of bowling in spin-friendly conditions having been brought up in New Zealand.
She picked up two wickets for 21 runs in her four overs in the previous match and showed that she can adjust. Velocity, very much like the Supernovas, has a strong batting lineup but a bowling attack that can be put under pressure.

SNV vs VLY Toss Prediction
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. Putting runs on the board in a final is always preferable and that is the way we think the teams will go.

Pitch and Conditions
The Women’s T20 Challenge Final is going to be played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. The weather forecast for the match is excellent and we should not have any trouble getting a full match in.
The pitch at Jaipur is a little slow but it remains flat and favorable to batting for the entire duration of the match. If anything, we have felt that teams have been a bit too conservative while batting. A score of around 150-160 is easily achievable batting first at this venue.
SNV vs VLY Dream11 Prediction
Dream11 team selection for Supernovas vs Velocity has been done with a view to maximizing the all-rounders in the side. A look at the scorecards of the women's T20 challenge will show that a lot of the top players play a central role in both batting and bowling, some even when they are not classified as all-rounders in the Dream11 categories. Having these players can increase the possibility of getting a lot of points on a good day.
Wicketkeeper: We have chosen Tania Bhatia as the wicketkeeper. She is good behind the stumps and bats pretty well also. She is a much better choice in comparison to Sushma Verma and is going to be keeping wickets to a better bowling attack as well.
Batters: We have picked Danny Wyatt, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Jemimah Rodrigues in the side. All of these three players are in good touch and bat in the top-order. Danny Wyatt and Jemimah Rodrigues are dependable batters that build an inning while Kaur is capable of clearing the boundaries. Kaur also bowls regularly in matches and is an excellent player to have in the team.
All-rounders: This is the most important category in our opinion. Hayley Matthews, Nate Sciver, and Sophie Devine are our picks. Matthews is an opening batter who can play the power game and bowls her full quota of overs as well. Similarly, Sophie Devine is an excellent batter that is sure of playing a major role with the ball. Nate Sciver has been a bit out of sorts in this tournament but she could light up the final if she gets going.
Bowlers: We have picked Amelia Kerr, Poonam Yadav, Radha Yadav, and Komal Zanzad in our side. Kerr and Yadav are genuine wicket takers that can be very effective on surfaces that spin while Radha Yadav and Komal Zanzad are pretty dependable as well.
Captain and Vice-Captain: We have picked Hayley Matthews as our captain and Poonam Yadav as our vice-captain for this match.

SNV vs VLY Betting Tips
These are two very similar sides and capable of beating each other as we have seen in the tournament already. They are, however, led by very different personalities. Harmanpreet Kaur is going to take the attack to the opposition while Mithali Raj will wait for mistakes and look to capitalize.
We think the match is going to be close but the fact that the Supernovas won the previous match gives them the edge.
Bet on the Supernovas to win.
