Hampshire's five-match winning run finally came to a stop against Surrey. The batting lineup struggled for a change and did not get enough runs to find off the Surrey batting. James Vince and Ben McDermott are going to lead from the front and they will know that they are up against a very strong lineup once more.
One or both of them needs to come up with a big score to be able to compete against Somerset.
Ross Whiteley and James Fuller have both shown just how effective they can be in the lower order as well. Hampshire's batting is not as strong as Somerset's but it is still very good.
We also like the Hampshire bowling attack. Nathan Ellis, Liam Dawson, James Fuller, Mason Crane, and Chris Wood will all play this match. This gives Hampshire five solid bowling options. There is not really a weak link that Somerset can target.

The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. Taunton is a very high-scoring venue and teams can often find it difficult to defend a total here.

The conditions in Taunton are expected to be quite good for cricket. The sun should be out and the pitch should be very good for batting! The ball comes onto the bat nicely and the straight dimensions of the outfield are invitingly small. A lot of sixes and fours are on the menu.
It is difficult to judge what a defendable total here is but looking at the strength of the two teams, we think something around 180 is definitely the least they will be looking for.
We are going to bet on Somerset to win. The contest is much tighter than the odds suggest but we are still going with the favorites. Somerset's batting is stronger, it is playing in home conditions, and it has more depth in its lineup. Hampshire is likely to give Somerset a tough fight but just fall short.
