There is fierce competition in the middle of the points table in the South Group of Vitality T20 Blast, which is apparent from the number of teams having four or three points besides their name. Sussex, who are third at the points table, have won just one game in the tournament and are at the third spot, thanks to their superior net run rate and a shared point due resulting from an abandoned fixture. Strangely, Somerset, who also have won one game are languishing near the bottom of the table, second from the bottom to be precise, and the distance between the two sides on points table sums up the competition in the South Group of the competition. Sussex and Somerset are set to take on each other on Sunday, 28th July at Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton. Both the sides have played reasonably well in the tournament, and we expect an exhilarating game of Cricket between the two sides.

Somerset
Somerset got off to a terrific start in the tournament, but have looked rather off-color since then. They are coming into this match on the back of two consecutive losses, against Kent and Hampshire. With no much going for them in their last couple of matches, things aren't going to be easy for them, and they'd need to utilize every bit of talent available at their disposal.
Babar Azam did well in his opening game of the tournament but wasn't able to showcase the same in the subsequent fixture. He, however, bounced back into form as he smashed unbeaten 95 runs in the last match. Coming into the tournament, they had the likes of James Hildreth and Peter Trego in fine form, but they too have failed to live up to the expectations of their fans as well as team's management.
While Peter Trego and Babar Azam have done well with the bat for them, lack of support from the rest of batsmen has been their primary cause of concern. In the bowling as well, barring Roelof van der Merwe and Jerome Taylor, none of their bowlers have performed consistently which has reflected in the results. Somerset have a superbly-balanced team, probably one of the best in the tournament, but the lack of consistency and team-effort is clearly hurting them. They'd be looking to improve in those aspects, and if they can do that, they'd be a tough side to beat, not just in their next match but also in the tournament ahead.

Sussex
Even though Sussex are comfortably placed at the third spot in the points table, they'd be pretty well aware that their dominance at the top could very well be short-lived considering that there are so many other teams breathing down their net. In order to maintain their dominance, it is imperative for them to win the upcoming match against Somerset.
Led by experienced T20 campaigner in Luke Wright, Sussex are yet to lose a match in the tournament. Apart from their win early in the tournament, they've garnered a couple of points from an abandoned game, and a closely-fought match against Surrey which eventually turned into a tie and Sussex once again had to settle for shared points.
Sussex have a terrific team on paper with an excellent amalgamation of youth and talent available right throughout the order. The likes of Philip Salt, Luke Wright, and Laurie Evan have done well over the course of so many years in the tournament and form the backbone of their side. With Rashid Khan and Jofra Archer available in their bowling lineup along with experienced Reece Topley and Danny Briggs, this Sussex side is one of the toughest sides to play against in the tournament.
