About the Match
In a match being considered to be a mismatch by experts, but there can be plenty in it as far as betting is concerned. South Africa will travel to Amstelveen to play only ODI against Netherlands on 31st May. South Africa is looking to be a strong unit and would be looking to show that on field too. Netherlands would be looking to put some fight in to this game. Netherlands has won against Test playing countries earlier too and it won’t be that surprising if an upset happens.
South African players haven’t played ODI cricket for a while due to their involvement in IPL. They would be taking this game as a way to adjust back to the longer version of the game and to get some match practice before the ICC Champions Trophy tournament
starts. South Africa is looking to be one of the favorites to take home the Champions Trophy as they most of their players are in excellent form. Dale Steyn has had a brilliant IPL and he along with Morne Morkel forms the backbone of their bowling attack. Amla has showed brilliant form with the bat in past year and would be looking to carry it on. Miller, de Villiers and Ingram in the middle order can give shift gears quickly and without any fuss. Beating this team would take something extraordinary considering the form their players are in.
The hosts would be playing an International game against a test playing nation after a long time. They played in WC11 earlier and impressed with their performance against England. They would not be having services of Ryan ten Doeschate which is a huge blow. Their batting is largely dependent on Tom Cooper and Wesley Barresi with other players chipping in and playing around them. Their bowling may not be as sharp as their opponents, but they do have some players who can surprise if it’s their day. This Netherlands side can surely put up a fight and may surprise everyone with the end result.
So far, it has been a good season for associate nations. First Ireland tied against Pakistan and showed brilliance in its second game. Can Netherlands follow on the same path and upset Proteas before an important tournament? They surely can, but it is very unlikely. South African players have been doing pretty well and getting past them is certainly a big ask.
