The IPL 2020 League table is turning out to be very closely contested at this point in time. No team has managed to run away the top and no team is completely out of it at the bottom either. Even DC and KXIP, the two teams at the opposite extremes of the table are within reach of all the others.
This next match is going to be played between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rajasthan Royals, two teams that have been inconsistent in their first half of IPL 2020 and would want to improve. SRH is coming into this match on the back of a big win against KXIP while RR has lost its previous four matches.
Crucially, however, Ben Stokes is going to be available for selection for RR from this match on.
SRH vs RR IPL 2020 is going to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on the 11th of October 2020.
The Sunrisers followed a now familiar template towards their win in the previous match. Their openers got the bulk of the runs after which their bowlers did a great job of defending the total. Add some inspired fielding to that effort and you have a typical SRH performance.
We know the strengths and weaknesses of this side very clearly now. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow are the heart of this batting lineup. The two of them are not going to be enough in every match and this is why Kane Williamson has to find a place in the playing eleven every time.
Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, and the young Indian batsmen like Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma, and Abdul Samad are good enough to get enough runs on most days. Every team needs to pick up Warner and Bairstow as early as possible to try and win but we have already seen the SRH middle-order get them at least one win in IPL 2020.
Among the bowing, Rashid Khan has hit tremendous form. He has gone for less than 15 runs in his four overs in three of the last four matches he has played. He has also picked up three wickets in one match twice during that phase.
SRH needs Rashid Khan to continue his momentum because the rest of the bowling is a bit weak. With Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, T Natrajan, and Rashid Khan, SRH is effectively playing with four bowlers. The fifth bowler quota has to come from Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad.
KXIP was bowled out in the 17th over in the previous match that SRH played and so this problem did not come up. This weakness is going to show up massively at some point in time against one of the stronger and deeper batting teams.
David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey, KS Williamson, Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma, V Shankar, Rashid Khan, S Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan.
Four losses on the trot have removed any shine that the first two wins for RR game them. This is now a team that is unsure of its methods. Steve Smith started IPL 2020 opening the batting but gave that up. Sanju Samson played attacking cricket from the start but with four failures, he is going to be under pressure as well.
Robin Uthappa, Jayadev Unadkat, Riyan Parag, Tom Curran, and Ankit Rajpoot have already been discarded. That is a lot of players to go through for a side that did not have a very deep squad to begin with.
Now, RR faces another very important question. Does Ben Stokes come into the team even though he has not had a single practice session? Also, is he fit enough to bowl his full quota of overs in every match because RR will have to replace AJ Tye for him?
The balance of this RR team seems all wrong to us. They are going to need some brilliance from Buttler or Samson to be able to cover up these weaknesses. It is possible but not something we would bank on happening too many times.
The batting lineup around these proven match-winners is weak and untested. There is promise, yes, but as a whole, RR is definitely behind SRH in this category. The same is true for the bowling. If RR chooses to play Ben Stokes, we believe it would actually end up hurting them seeing as how their current team composition is.
A lot of questions need to be answered by RR and at this point, anyone backing them is going to be doing so hoping for luck on their side rather than any research behind it.
Jos Buttler, Steven Smith, Sanju Samson, RV Uthappa, Riyan Parag, BA Stokes, R Tewatia, Jofra Archer, S Gopal, Kartik Tyagi, Jaydev Unadkat.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. That has been the trend in the last few matches and we expect it to become more apparent as the pitches start to wear.

The pitch at Dubai has been pretty good for batting so far. We did see Sharjah start to slow up and bring the spinners into the game a lot more. Maybe the same could happen in Dubai for this match as well. This is also going to be the second match played in Dubai within 24-hours and so the chances of a lower-scoring match seem to be higher.
These are not the conditions in which RR has thrived up until now.
We have no hesitation in backing SRH to win in this match. It has a better batting lineup, a settled combination, and their best batsmen are in tremendous form. The bowling weakness is something is that SRH may be able to get away with thanks to the form of Rashid and the lack of batting depth in the RR lineup.
Bet on the Sunrisers Hyderabad to win.
We know about the massive six-hitting potential that RR has but to get better than 2x odds on a side with David Warner and Jonny Bairstow in top-form is a great deal. Form can change the style of play for every single player and we think RR will have no option but to be more circumspect in this next match.
Take advantage by betting on SRH.
We think the market has overestimated the traditional stats that Dubai offers. IPL 2020 has seen an average of 180 bring scored in Dubai compared to 160 here during other times. A match tota over 326.6 is an excellent option to make some easy money.
The return is not the best but the risk is not the greatest. A fair tradeoff.
This is a bit of a hedge. If the pitch does slow up and starts to become difficult to score off, then the sixes are not going to be hit easily at all. This means that you are going to be able to protect your downside and with a luck be able to come out with serious profit no matter what happens.
Definitely use this to add a safety net to your bets for this match.
