About the Match
Bangladesh is up against one of the most difficult challenges in cricket today. Beating Sri Lanka at home. The team may not be the force it once was but it is definitely a significant challenge when playing in home conditions. Can Bangladesh create enough opportunities to be able to end Sri Lankan dominance or is the result inevitable once more?
Second Test Match Preview
Bangladesh will celebrate their 100th
test match with the pomp and flair that it deserves, however, they would be hoping that they are able to bring about a change in their performance as well. The chance to play at the P Sara Oval will mean that their 100th
test match will most likely end in a result.
The pitch provides helpful conditions to the seamers first up before taking some vicious spin later on. It is a pitch where Sri Lankan bowlers will feel they can run through a Bangladeshi lineup that is prone to collapses.
Still, in Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar, Bangladesh seems to have found an opening partnership that could stay together successfully for a long time, while the loss of form Mominul and Mahmudullah has thrown the middle order in turmoil.
Expect, the return of Imrul Kayes in place of Mominul while Mossadek Hossain could be making his debut in place of the discarded Mahmudullah.
It is usually said that a pitch that offers some juice will help even out the differences in the bowling attack. This is the best opportunity for the Bangladeshi bowlers to utilize the conditions and put the Sri Lankan batting order under pressure.
Sri Lanka has some problems of its own on the batting side of things that were not brought to the fore in batting friendly Galle. Had Bangladesh not dropped the early chance that Kusal Mendis offered, the last test could have gone a very different way.
We think that Tharanga will be the man to back as the possible highest scorer for Sri Lanka while Shakib Al Hassan is our pick to come good in the biggest test match that his country has played till now.
On the bowling side of things, there is no one better than Rangana Herath to exploit the conditions on offer while Mehedi Hasan would be hoping to put in an improved performance this time around. We also think that Lashkan Sandakan will be a real handful in the second innings with his bag of tricks.
Possible Bangladesh Playing Eleven
1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Soumya Sarkar, 3 Imrul Kayes, 4 Mosaddek Hossain, 5 Mushfiqur Rahim (capt & wk), 6 Shakib Al Hasan, 7 Sabbir Rahman, 8 Mehedi Hasan, 9 Taskin Ahmed, 10 Mustafizur Rahman, 11 Kamrul Islam Rabbi

We think this match will be closer than the first one but that Sri Lanka will manage to win once again
