About the Match
The Riders kept their hopes alive with a much-needed victory against Zouks in the last game by 3 wickets; they are now placed 3rd on the table with 8 points and are geared up to take on Patriots at Lauderhill on 29th July. The hosts failed to break their losing streak and are at the bottom of the table with only one win so far; they will now fight for their honor and try to redeem themselves on Friday. Both teams are facing each other for the first time and they will be eager to dominate the other right from the first ball; it needs to be seen which side uses the resources cleverly in order to emerge victorious here.
St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots
Against Tallawahs they received a humiliating thrashing as the hosts got them all-out for a cheap 75; it was a shocking performance by the team led by Faf du Plessis and consisting of experienced batsmen like Lendl Simmons, Brad Hodge and Jonathan Carter. In the last match against Zouks too, the batting line-up crumbled like a pack of cards, being able to muster only 139 in reply to 174 runs; Plessis posted a well-made 48, fighting a lone battle with the only support coming from JJ Sumts and Carter. They have the skills and experience to bounce back in the upcoming game provided the top and middle order can keep the wickets intact against the Riders.
Alzarri Joseph led the bowling attack against Zouks, taking 4-41 while Santokie and Carter finished with 2 scalps each; Santoki has been in good form and he can put up a disciplined attack along with Cottrell, Tabraiz Shamsi and Samuel Badree.
They have lost games after failing to chase down totals, big and small, but they definitely can bounce back if they learn to keep their nerves cool under crunch situations.
Tribango Knight Riders
Umar Akmal’s brilliant 73 off 35 balls helped the Riders clinch victory in the game against Zouks and push their campaign forward; top-order batsmen like McCullum, Perkins, Munro and Ramdin lost steam during chase for 168 but the Pakistani batsman held his ground firmly to steer the team across the finish line with help from Anton Devcich and Sunil Narine in the end. Earlier Dwayne Bravo, Cooper and Beaton took regular wickets to restrict Zouks to 167 and spinners like Narine and Devcich can pull out some tricks from the bag to outwit Patriots too in the upcoming game.
Against Tallawahs, despite a superb 42 off 36 from Hashim Amla, the batting line-up couldn’t keep the scoreboard ticking and they fell short of the 159-run target by 19 runs; players like McCullum, Munro and Bravo can make a comeback with the bat and help build a solid foundation whether batting first or during chase.
Sulieman Benn has been in good form as seen from his 2-wicket haul against Tridents recently; they have a versatile bowling attack and with the recent antics of the batsmen, Riders surely look to be a formidable team to reckon with.
Patriots may be demoralized but they do have the resources to win and cause an upset here; the contest could go either way but we feel that Riders have a well-rounded team to emerge victorious
