About the Match
After defeating RCB, Sunrisers Hyderabad now have 2 points from 3 matches and are placed 6th on the table; they will go up against Delhi Daredevils, who also have 2 points from 3 matches but placed 4th on 18th April at Visakhapatnam. Both teams have won only one match so far and will look to improve their performance with a victory here. While Sunrisers have the home advantage to their side, Daredevils are quite confident after their first win in the tournament and will look to continue with their winning momentum.
Their victory against RCB has surely boosted their morale; the bowlers did well to restrict the powerful RCB batting line-up to 166. Boult took 3 wickets in an over while Ravi Bopara chipped in with a couple of crucial strikes. On the batting front, David Warner took the wind out of RCB’s sails, smashing a 27-ball 57; he was well supported by Shikhar Dhawan. They had lost their last match against Royals by 6 wickets after the batsmen put up only 127. The Sunrisers never got any partnership going as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and none of them were able to play the anchor’s innings to take the team to a challenging total. The Hyderabad team has a terrific top order with batsmen like, David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan and Eoin Morgan, who are capable of getting the big runs; on the bowling front, they have Trent Boult, Karn Sharma and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, who are big assets for team while Bopara too has been successfully in snaring wickets. They must ensure to come out all guns blazing if they want to be here for the long haul and climb up the ladder.
They registered their first win as they beat Kings XI Punjab by 5 wickets after chasing down the target of 166 successfully. Yuvraj Singh smashed 55 off 39 and Mayank Agarwal cracked 68 off 48; the batsmen shared a 106-run stand for the third wicket to help Daredevils win their first game of the tournament. On the bowling front, Imran Tahir made a sterling comeback in the end overs to snare three wickets while JP Duminy picked up 2 wickets. Earlier, they lost their match against Rajasthan Royals by 3 wickets in which Mayank Agarwal had kick-started the innings with a quick-fire knock. Shreyas Iyer and JP Duminy played their parts to give their bowlers a good score of 184 runs to defend; however, Tahir’s 4-28 and Mishra’s 2-32 weren’t enough in the end. The youngsters at the top of the order need to shoulder more responsibility and give some stability to the side. In the bowling department, Amit Mishra bowled good variations for an economic spell while Nathan Coulter-Nile and Imran Tahir’s performance will be the key to the team if they are to do well with the ball. Overall they have the firepower to overcome any situation and win more upcoming matches.
While both teams have had similar results till now, this game would be a crucial one at this stage of the competition. Although Sunrisers have home advantage which might play a role in both bowling and batting, we feel that the Delhi Daredevils will propel themselves to a win in this match.
