About the Match
With 2 points from 4 matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad are at the 5th position in the points table and will go up against Kolkata Knight Riders, who have 6 points from 4 matches and are occupying the 3rd position, on 22nd April at Visakhapatnam. Sunrisers so far have one win from 4 outings but the team will be keen to make winning a habit and start piling up the points. KKR on the other hand have got their campaign back on track with a victory over Kings XI Punjab and will be keen to consolidate their position. It will be very interesting to see which team can grab couple more points with a victory on Wednesday.
Their last match against Delhi Daredevils ended in defeat by 4 wickets as they were put to chase down a target of 167; the Sunrisers took off well with opening batsmen Shikhar Dhawan scoring 18 and David Warner’s 28 helping put up a striking 50-run stand. Afterwards Ravi Bopara posted 41 and Lokesh Rahul contributed with 24 to give crucial contributions but regular fall of wickets slowed down the flow of runs. SRH’s performance against the Royals wasn’t up to the mark; they never got any partnership going as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Eoin Morgan scored just 27 and Ravi Bopara 23 and none of them could take the team to a challenging total. Overall, their batting still remains a major worry; apart from David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan, none of the batsmen have looked comfortable at the crease. Bowling remains the key for SRH; Trent Boult has looked very good with the new ball while Bhuvneshwar Kumar has complemented him well and Ravi Bopara has impressed too. They need to strategize well against the opponents and focus on winning more matches if they want to progress further in the tournament.
Kolkata Knight Riders
They successfully chased down the modest total of 147 against Daredevils with 11 balls to spare and came back with a convincing win; Gautam Gambhir glued Kolkata’s innings together as he blasted 60 off 49 while Yusuf Pathan smashed 40 off 26. Umesh Yadav and Morne Morkel put on a disciplined bowling effort to restrict Delhi and took 2 wickets each. Earlier, they had beaten Kings XI Punjab by 4 wickets; chasing a tricky 156, Andre Russell slammed 66 from 36 and Yusuf Pathan’s 28 from 24 helped stitch an outstanding partnership of 95 from 59 balls to bail them out of trouble. On the bowling front, Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-33 and he was assisted by Morne Morkel and Andre Russell, who picked up two wickets apiece. Overall, the team has a well-balanced side with in-form players. The most impressive batsman in this edition has been Suryakumar Yadav while Andre Russell and Yusuf Phatan continue to steady the innings. The bowling looks settled too and they will try to do their best to win the next match too.
KKR has gained confidence after two successive and although Sunrisers’ recent performance has not been good they will do their best to play as a unit It will surely be a tough fight between Sunrisers and KKR as both teams will be prepared to attack one another; however, with the home advantage, we feel that Sunrisers have greater chances of winning this match.
