About the Match
Trinidad & Tobago are facing Sunrisers Hyderabad on 24th September who qualified to the Group Stage playing at the same venue. Although they have the taste of the venue and the crowd, they are playing their first match of the main tournament making it a tad different as well as difficult. Trinidad & Tobago have collected 4 points from their first match whereas for Sunrisers this is the first league match. T & T led by Ramdin, have a good mix of young and experienced players who have already beaten Brisbane Heat comprehensively, defending a modest total of 135. Sunrisers have proven performers who are equipped with all-round capabilities. The pitch is lively and will assist both the sides. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top.
Trinidad and Tobago:
T&T opened with Simmons and Lewis in the first game and are expected to do the same. They have started well and having played 73 T20 matches, Simmons has a good SR of 200. Bravo and Ganga couldn’t contribute much with the bat but they have the capability to change the scene when they are in the middle. Ramdin individually played well and was the highest scorer in the first match. He will expect the middle order to play to their potential. With medium pace fast bowlers available with him, he will utilize the spinners as the pitch is expected to play sportingly as the match progresses. Ravi Rampaul did splendidly with the ball and accounted for 4 Brisbane Heat wickets. He with Narine can create dent in opponent’s batting line up, with good support from fielders. The team has the experience to harness its resources and confidence to win this match.
Although they are playing CL for the first time, they have the overseas players like White who has played 172 T20 matches with a century to his credit thereby inducing experience among the guys. Duminy, Sammy, Steyn and Periera have all played good number of matches in this format and demonstrate their all-round capabilities. Shikhar Dhawan is in top form and Parthiv Patel have contributed for the cause of the team previously and would keep up the team spirit. Ishant, Steyn and Amit Mishra have been doing well with the ball. Most of the players have been playing in English Counties and have been part of previous IPL editions as part of one or other team. They have very good left- right combination in batting and good mix of fast, medium pace and spin bowling, which can make the opponents struggle. With good team work, Sunrisers will prove their qualification to the group stage.
T&T have strong, aggressive players and would like to keep the momentum going for them. If experience and aggressiveness is the dominating factor in Trinidad & Tobago team, then talent, variety and competitive spirit is the hall mark of Sunrisers. Sunrisers will be willing utilize the opportunity to open their account and be in the race, giving a good fight to the opponent. With their will to fight and variety of talents, I think Sunrisers are better placed to win the match.
