No match is unimportant when it comes to the T20 Blast but this next match between Surrey and Middlesex has a lot of significance for both the teams involved. As things stand right now, both Surrey and Middlesex have one win from four matches and are on exactly the same number of points.
A win here for either side will help it push towards the top of the table while a loss will put it very near the bottom.
A compressed schedule and an altered tournament format do not allow for an elongated period of bad results.
Surrey vs Middlesex T20 Blast 2020 is going to be played at the Kia Oval, London on the 5th of September 2020.
Surrey has had a rough start to this edition of the T20 Blast and things are not about to get any easier. They finally managed to get one win under their belt thanks to some good bowling and an excellent opening partnership between Hashim Amla and Will Jacks.
Wickets for Daniel Moriarty, Gareth Batty, and Gus Atkinson ensured that Surrey did not have to chase a very big score in its previous match against Hampshire. Then runs from Amla and Jacks effectively ended the match before their partnership ended.
Surrey has a decent batting lineup but one that is not as explosive as some of the others in the competition. Players like Amla, Burns, Foakes, or even Jacks are not going to play the ultra-aggressive T20 innings often enough.
They also don’t need to be very aggressive in every match, though, as long as they are being consistent.
The bowling is decent especially now that Reece Topley is available for selection.
Surrey is a team that is going to be competitive in most matches but hardly ever going to be exceptional with the lineup it has right now.
Hashim Amla, Will Jacks, Laurie Evans, Ben Foakes, Rory Burns, Jamie Smith, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton, Gareth Batty, Daniel Moriarty, R Topley.
An excellent opening partnership between Steve Eskinazi and Max Holden set the base for what turned out to be an excellent victory for Middlesex against Essex in their previous match. The other batsmen did not contribute much to the score after them, though, and that is something that would be concerning to Middlesex.
If they lose a couple of wickets early against Surrey, the batting could find it hard to cope with the bowling.
Nick Gubbins, Dan Lincoln, and martin Andersson don’t make for the strongest middle-order.
The bowling attack for Middlesex is very good and that is where they can challenge Surrey. The likes of Steve Finn, Nathan Sowter, Tom Helm, and Miguel Cummins can certainly make life difficult for the Surrey batsmen.
The conditions at the Oval are not going to be easy to bowl on, though, and that may go against Middlesex.
Stephen Eskinazi, Max Holden, Martin Andersson, Jack Davies, John Simpson, Dan Lincoln, James Harris, Luke Hollman, Thomas Helm, Nathan Sowter, ST Finn.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first.

An excellent day has been forecast in London for match day. There should be no problem in getting a full match. The pitch at the Oval is very good for batting. The surface always has some pace in it that makes it very good for power-hitting and the outfield is quite quick as well.
A score of around 180 should be par.
We think the home team is the one to bat in this match. Surrey has a better batting lineup than Middlesex and should be able to get enough runs to win. Middlesex’s bowling is dangerous, especially Finn, but the advantage may be enough to negate that. The return of Reece Topley into the Surrey side is a big boost as well.
Bet on Surrey to win.
