Surrey and Sussex are separated by just net run-rate in what is a very tightly contested South Group of the T20 Blast 2020 season. This match is very important and could be crucial in determining a place in the T20 Blast 2020 Finals Day.
Surrey comes into this match with four consecutive wins in a row while Sussex became the first team to lose to Essex this season in its previous match.
The previous match between Surrey and Sussex was spoiled by the rain and we could not have any play possible. The forecast is much more encouraging this time around.
Surrey vs Sussex T20 Blast 2020 is going to be played at the Kia Oval, London on the 16th of September 2020.
Surrey has managed to put together a decent batting lineup this season. They have Will Jacks, who continues to impress, alongside the immensely experienced Hashim Amla at the top of the order. Laurie Evans, Rory Burns, Jamie Overton, Ben Foakes have all done pretty well also.
This has meant that Surrey has been competitive with the bat in almost every match it has played.
We don’t think it has the kind of power that Sussex does in its team but the consistency is there.
Gareth Batty, Reece Topley, and Will Jacks also lead a decent bowling attack. Surrey knows its limitations in the bowling and plays around that. It has also been helped by having a strong batting lineup that puts extra pressure on the opposition.
We think this bunch of players is going to find it very hard to keep a strong Sussex bowling attack in check.
Will Jacks, Hashim Amla, Ben Foakes, Rory Burns, Jamie Smith, Rikki Clarke, Jamie Overton, LE Plunkett, Gus Atkinson, Daniel Moriarty, R Topley.
A poor bowling performance in the previous match against Essex led to what can be considered an unexpected defeat. Tymal Mills, Ravi Bopara, and David Wiese were all very expensive and let Essex put up a commanding total.
In return, Sussex gave it a good try but could not pull off the chase.
We don’t think that one defeat is something to be overly concerned about. Sussex still has one of the strongest batting lineups in the entire T20 Blast. Luke Wright, Callum MacLeod, and Delray Rawlins are in tremendous form.
Rawlins, in particular, is showing a world-class power game. Add Ravi Bopara, David Wiese, and Aaron Thomason to the lineup and you have some fantastic batting depth. This is a batting lineup that can easily take advantage of the Surrey bowling.
The conditions at the Oval are going to be god for batting and that may just play into the hands of the Sussex team.
Philip Salt, Luke Wright, Calum MacLeod, Delray Rawlins, D Wiese, RS Bopara, Aaron Thomason, George Garton, Ollie Robinson, Will Beer, Danny Briggs.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. Both teams depend on their batting to win matches and will want to let them take the pressure of the chase.

There is no rain predicted for match day in London. That means we should finally be able to get these two teams to lock horns after being denied by the rain at the beginning of the T20 Blast. The pitch at the Oval is excellent for batting. It is flat, has decent pace and bounce in it, and offers next to nothing to the bowlers.
A high-scoring encounter with a distinct possibility of two 200 plus scores lies in store.
We are going to go with the visitors in this match. Sussex is a very good T20 team and has a better bowling attack than Surrey. It also has a lot more six-hitting power in its side, something that has proven to be an excellent predictor of success in T20 matches.
Bet on Sussex to win.
