The Sydney Sixers inflicted one of the most comprehensive defeats in Big Bash history on the Melbourne Renegades in their previous match. That win would have boosted their confidence and sets them up nicely for the contests to follow.
They will be taking on the Adelaide Strikers, who registered their first win of BBL 2020-21 in their previous match as well. The Strikers have been a bit inconsistent in the two matches that they have played and will be hoping to hit to-gear very soon.
The small break in between BBL matches will have helped the teams reassess their strategies just a bit as well.
Sydney Sixers vs Adelaide Strikers BBL 2020-21 is going to be played at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart on the 20th of December 2020.
The Sydney Sixers could not have asked for a better match than they played against the Melbourne Renegades. All of their batsmen that had missed out in the opening game scored runs and the bowlers were absolutely brilliant as well.
Josh Philippe scored 95 to headline the inning but contributions from Daniel Hughes and Jordan Silk cannot be overlooked either. In fact, Jordan Silk’s 45 from 19 deliveries was what pushed the total over 200.
The Sixers are going to look to continue in the same vein in this match. All of their batsmen now have runs to their name in BBL 2020-21 which is a great sign for them moving forward.
Steve O’Keeffe, Ben Dwarshius, Gurinder Sandhu, and Carlos Brathwaite had a great outing but we do think there are some weaknesses here to exploit. None of the pace bowlers in the team have any real pace and can be expensive frequently.
The pressure to pick early wickets is always going to be on the Sydney Sixers otherwise they are going to struggle.
Josh Philippe, Jack Edwards, James Vince, Daniel Hughes, Jordan Silk, DT Christian, Jason Holder, Carlos Brathwaite, Ben Dwarshuis, Benjamin Manenti, Steve O'Keefe.
Peter Siddle picked up a five-wicket haul to lead his side to victory against the Hobart Hurricanes. He was not the only good bowler of the game, though. Even Wes Agar, Rashid Khan, and Daniel Worrall all had a great game with the ball.
The Adelaide Strikers are always tough to beat when their bowling is firing and that is what they are going to bank on in this match as well. We like the matchup between Rashid Khan and the leading batsmen of the Sydney Sixers.
The Strikers got off to a poor start with the bat once again but Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey were spectacular. They kept the scoreboard ticking and accelerated with ease towards the end.
There were some cheap wickets that fell towards the end and that is something that would concern the Strikers. We worry about their depth in batting. They have the names on the sheet but somehow they always seem to be struggling with the bat.
The signs for the team are good as the bowling starts to come together and we think that Rashid Khan is due for a big wickets haul soon.
All they need to do now is ensure that their batsmen keep them in the game for long enough!
Philip Salt, Jake Weatherald, Matt Renshaw, Alex Carey, JW Wells, Matt Short, Rashid Khan, Daniel Worrall, Danny Briggs, Wes Agar, Peter Siddle.
The toss has not been very important in terms of the result at the Bellerive Oval. We think the team that wins is going to want to field first but winning the toss is not a huge advantage.

The Bellerive Oval is expected to serve up a batting belter. There is always some extra bounce in the track and that will keep the bowlers interested but the even pace and small boundaries all point towards a high-scoring match.
We think the Adelaide Strikers are a good match-up for the Sydney Sixers. Yes, the Sixers have a stronger batting lineup but the Strikers have a better bowling attack. On a small ground, the latter could prove to be the more effective weapon to have.
Bet on the Adelaide Strikers to win.
