Brisbane Heat will be playing against Sydney Thunder in this Big Bash League match, which will feature some of the most exciting players in the T20 format. Brisbane Heat finally managed to win their first match of the BBL and will come into this match full of confidence. Sydney Thunder, on the other hand, has started to slip down the BBL league table after an excellent start to the competition.
Sydney Thunder fans will also be aware of the fact that Jos Buttler is about to leave the competition after just a few more matches. Getting some wins is going to be very important for Sydney Thunder in the next week or so.
Sydney Thunder lost its previous match to the Melbourne Stars due to a poor batting performance. They lost wickets at regular intervals and could never get any momentum into the inning. The dependence on Jos Buttler to provide the majority of the runs has been clear but it is concerning that none of the other batsmen is stepping up.
Shane Watson is having one of his worst BBL tournaments in memory. He has looked fallible against pace and is always an LBW candidate. Watson carries so much of the weight of this side on his shoulders that he cannot really afford to be out of form for too long.
Callum Ferguson is one batsman that has looked good every time he has come out to bat. He is not a natural fit for the T20 game but seems to have adapted well. Ferguson was out first ball in the last match but that is not something we would be concerned about.
He is a good bet for the top scorer in the Sydney Thunder side.
The Sydney Thunder middle order has been very poor. Joe Root has done his T20 reputation no favors by failing in every single match of the BBL so far. He is another player that is going to be around for just a few matches but that may be a good thing for Sydney Thunder.
Daniel Sams and Jason Sangha are talented batsmen although very different in their approach. Jason Sangha is more conventional while Sams seems intent on hitting every ball for a six.
On the whole, the Sydney Thunder batting is looking a little vulnerable right now and needs runs from its opening pair.
Their bowling has been led by Fawad Ahmed. He is the best of all the spinners that play for Sydney Thunder. We are not sure why Cook keeps on being persisted with but he surely has to make way for Boland in the upcoming match.
With Rainbird, Green, Sams, and maybe Sandhu, the Sydney Thunder bowling is decent but not really fearsome.
SR Watson, Jos Buttler, Callum Ferguson, JE Root, Jason Sangha, Daniel Sams, Christopher Green, Gurinder Sandhu, Sam Rainbird, Jonathan Cook, Fawad Ahmed.
Brisbane Heat played an excellent match against the Perth Scorchers to get their first victory of BBL 08. They bowled well, batted confidently, and saw some good performances from their important players.
We think the bowling form of Mujeeb Ur Rahman was a huge plus for Brisbane Heat. He bowled his four overs for just ten runs and took two wickets as well. If he can continue to exert that kind of control in the powerplay then it is a big advantage for Brisbane Heat.
The other bowlers also bowled well in the last match and we don’t think the bowling has been a problem for Brisbane Heat this season. They have an excellent bowling unit with James Pattinson, Josh Lalor, Doggett, and Cutting to round things off.
The batting has also started to look more impressive. Thankfully, Brendon McCullum was back at the top of the order where he is the most dangerous. We think a big knock from him is on the way. Max Bryant continues to play in an ultra-aggressive manner that seems too high risk to come off.
It will be spectacular when it does but there is just no way to say when it will happen.
Brisbane Heat added Matt Renshaw to their middle order and we think that is an excellent decision. With Lynn, Renshaw, and Burns in the middle order, Brisbane Heat is packing a serious punch. They also have Pierson and Cutting to add power down the order or when needed.
Brisbane Heat has not had too much success in the Big Bash League so far but we do believe it just a matter of time before they start to rise up the BBL standings.
Max Bryant, Brendon McCullum, Chris Lynn, Matt Renshaw, Jimmy Peirson, Marnus Labuschagne, Ben Cutting, James Pattinson, Brendan Doggett, Mitchell Swepson, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

This BBL 08 match is going to be played between Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat is going to be played at the Sydney Showground Stadium, Sydney. The pitch at the Sydney Showground Stadium has been a little slow. It should provide some help to the spinners.
A score of around 150 may be difficult to chase down.
Sydney Thunder has the spinners to be able to take advantage of the conditions but their batting has been in poor form. Overall, Brisbane Heat appears to be a stronger side and should win.
Back Brisbane Heat to win.
