SYT vs HBH Match Prediction - Jan 13, 2022

Sydney Thunder has won its previous six matches in a row and now sits in second place on the BBL 2021-22 standings. The team has been quite good when it comes to adjusting to the absence of players and has managed to continue delivering. Its next match is against the Hobart Hurricanes, the same team that it defeated in the previous match it played.

The Hobart Hurricanes have been quite good in BBL 2021-22 and sit in fourth place. They have, however, lost three out of the previous four matches that they have played and enter this match in relatively poor recent form.

This is probably why the cricket betting sites are giving Sydney Thunder the tag of heavy favorites in this contest.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Sydney Thunder vs Hobart Hurricanes BBL 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the Docklands Stadium, Melbourne on the 13th of January 2022.

SYT vs HBH Team Previews

Sydney Thunder

Alex Hales played his first real inning of substance after threatening to do so in the last few matches. His inning of 80 not out was enough to give Sydney Thunder a nine-wicket win. There is no doubt that the Sydney Thunder batting unit is in good form. Matthew Gilkes in getting rapid stars, Alex Hales has runs to his name, Jason Sangha has shown he belongs at this level, and there are three to four excellent all-rounders to add depth.

The real risk is if Thunder loses a few early wickets because the imbalance in its side could be exposed. From a betting viewpoint, we think continuing to back Jason Sangha to score runs is the way to go. Look for the Over/Under markets and back the 'Over'.

The real strength of Sydney Thunder's team right now is its bowling attack. Mohammad Hasnain has added a real menace to the attack and Gurinder Sandhu seems to be unable not to take wickets! Daniel Sams and Nathan McAndrew round out a very good seam bowling attack. We also like the inclusion of Tanveer Sangha as the leg-spinner since he seems to be better suited to take advantage of some wickets that are slowing up than Chris Green.

Sydney Thunder Playing 11

AD Hales, M Gilkes, Jason Sangha, Daniel Sams, Oliver Davies, Ben Cutting, Baxter J Holt, Nathan McAndrew, Gurinder Sandhu, Tanveer Sangha, Mohammad Hasnain.

Hobart Hurricanes

The Hobart Hurricanes have one of the strongest batting lineups when it comes to BBL 2021-22. We have all seen the exploits of Ben McDermott (two centuries and a 93 this season already) and he got a start in the previous match as well. We think betting on him in this rich vein of form is something that makes sense. Once again, the individual Over/Under betting markets on Ben McDermott are the ones that you need to look for.

The absence of Matthew Wade is a big one for the Hobart Hurricanes and it is still not clear at the moment if he will be available for this next match. Still, with Darcy Short, Tim David, Caleb Jewell, and Peter Handscomb, the Hobart Hurricanes certainly have a very strong batting lineup.

None of the bowlers were effective against Sydney Thunder in the previous match but once again, Thomas Rogers and Riley Meredith have been very good during the season and we would not want to count them out after just one match.

Hobart Hurricanes Playing 11

Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Matthew Wade, D'Arcy Short, Peter Handscomb, Tim David, Jordan Thompson, Thomas Rogers, Wil Parker, Sandeep Lamichhane, Riley Meredith.

SYT vs HBH Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. Four out of the five matches played at this venue have been won by the team that has batted first.

Pitch and Conditions

The previous match that was played at the Docklands Stadium saw Sydney Thunder score 200 runs and then bowl their opponents out for well under a 100. The pitch has favored the batsmen this season but it is a bit on the slower side. The small boundaries allow the big-hitters to really take charge after they get their eye in.

We think something around 160-170 is going to be the bare minimum that teams aim for.

SYT vs HBH Betting Tips

We are going to bet on Sydney Thunder to win this match. They seem to have all the momentum with them at the moment. The batting lineup is a bit imbalanced but that has not stopped them. Hobart Hurricanes are a very dangerous unit as well, however, their bowling seems to be letting them down a bit.

Bet on Sydney Thunder to win.

The form shown by Jason Sangha this season has been incredible. He just always seems like getting runs and currently has 329 runs to his name. He averaging over 65 and so we think the Over/under line available is in the bettors favor.

    Total Sixes in the Match

    Over 10.5 (1.72)

The Docklands Stadium has short boundaries that are quite attractive for the batsmen to target. With two of the best six-hitting teams in the BBL 2021-22 season playing this match, we think getting over 10.5 sixes is not going to be a tough ask at all.
