SYTW vs ADSW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Dec 15, 2018

We are seeing a number of back to back matches in the WBBL right now and that is what we have between the Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder as well. Both the sides have just played one match and will be going to at it again in less than 24 hours.

The first match went the way of Sydney Thunder who is now at the top of the WBBL standings with three wins from four matches. The Adelaide Strikers, on the other hand, have won just one match from its four although one of them was a rained out fixture as well.

The momentum seems to be with Sydney Thunder for sure which is quickly emerging as one of the leading contenders for the WBBL title this year.

SYTW vs ADSW Team Previews

Sydney Thunder Women

Sydney Thunder bowled first in the match against the Adelaide Strikers and kept on picking wickets throughout the inning. They never let any real partnerships develop even though Bates stood strong at one end.

As a result, the Adelaide Strikers were not able to reach a competitive total and Sydney Thunder chased it down comfortably.

There were some changes to the batting order once again Thunder continue to tinker around. The West Indian international Taylor was sent to open the batting but she was run out without scoring a run.

This move may not have yielded immediate dividends but its something we think is worth sticking with. Taylor opens the batting for her national side as well and has played some magnificent innings at that position.

Of course, it is the Indian T20 skipper that is having the most impact for Sydney Thunder right now. She once again hit three sixes and now has the most big hits in the tournament. She scored 33 of 22 deliveries and provided the cushion to the remaining batters to take it easy.

Priest batted through the inning with 58 runs to her name.

The Sydney Thunder batting is pretty strong and should continue to pose questions to the Adelaide Strikers in this match.

Farell, Gibson, and Taylor took three wickets each to be the star bowlers in the last match. If anyone of these three can continue to bowl in the same manner then the Strikers are going to find it difficult to get a big total on the board.

Adelaide Strikers Women

The Adelaide Strikers were never able to get into this last match. Bates played a lone hand of 79 but there was no one else that contributed with the bat. This is not something that would sit with the Strikers that pride themselves on having a decent batting lineup.

McGrath, Wellington, Patterson, and Seville are all decent batters. Perhaps the fact that they were up against a strong Sydney Thunder side put additional pressure on them. Sometimes the batters can feel they need to score a lot of runs to give their bowlers a chance and that makes causes them to make mistakes.

Hopefully, the Adelaide Strikers would have learned from their mistakes and will do better next time around.

The Adelaide Strikers did not put enough runs on the board to expect a victory from their bowlers but the lack of wicket taking ability was still a bit unnerving. Megan Schutt leads the bowling attack for the Australians and was unable to pick up a single wicket.

Even when the wickets did come, they came because of mistakes made by the batters rather than sustained pressure that the bowlers piled on.

This last performance would have given the Adelaide Strikers plenty to think about. The season is still young but the Adelaide Strikers need to start sorting themselves out to be a threat.
