We are another way into the Women's Big Bash League 2019 and while there have been things that have gone as per the expectations, there have been some unexpected developments as well. As expected, Brisbane Heat rampaged past Melbourne Renegades to occupy the top of the table spot. Sydney Thunder, who were once reigning the ladder, have dropped down into the second half of the table and will be desperate to get back into the top half. The battle will be intense when the two teams, Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat, on 16th November in Sydney.
With five wins to their name in eight matches, Brisbane Heat have been the team of the tournament. Their exceedingly good net run-rate of 0.733 has helped them to stay at the top of the table. Currently, there are four teams tied with 10 points each, but Brisbane Heat are at the top, thanks to their superior net run-rate.
In their previous match, which was against Melbourne Stars, Brisbane Heat produced an excellent performance wherein they chased a high total with considerable ease. Their chase was led by Beth Mooney, who has been in prolific form this summer, as she played an unbeaten knock of 70. Mooney continues to stay at the top of the batting charts of this edition of Women's Big Bash League.
Mooney was ably assisted by Maddy Green, who smashed 56 off 33 deliveries to ease things for the other batsmen. Their bowlers weren't able to produce same kind of performance as they did in the earlier matches and that allowed Stars to set up a towering total. While they have a batting unit that is capable of toppling any total, the management would want their bowlers to improve considerably going into the next game.
Rachael Haynes, Rachel Priest, Tahlia Wilson, Alex Blackwell, Phoebe Litchfield, Nida Dar, Hannah Darlington, Rene Farrell, Lisa Griffith, Shabnim Ismail, Sam Bates.
Syndey Thunder came second against Perth Scorchers in a low-scoring game of cricket, which happened on 12th Novemeber. The toss pushed Thunder into the bottom-half of the table and will be looking to get the ball rolling with half of the tournament already done and dusted.
The Thunder are currently placed at the fifth spot, just outside the top-four, and a win here will push them to a pretty good spot. With nine points to their name at a net run-rate of 0.253, Syndey Thunder need to get a move on should they not want to make things difficult towards the back-end of the tournament.
Sydney Thunder were playing against the Sixers at the time of writing wherein their bowlers failed to make early inroads into the Sixers' lineup. On paper, Sydney Thunder have pretty decent unit with a well-balanced batting unit and variety available in the bowling attack. If they perform to their potential in the upcoming fixture, the Heat would have their work cut out.
Beth Mooney, Kirby Short, Jess Jonassen, Maddy Green, Grace Harris, Laura Harris, Amelia Kerr, Delissa Kimmince, Sammy Jo Johnson, Mikayla Hinkley, Georgia Prestwidge.

Things are beginning to get more and more intense as we move towards the business end of the tournament. Sydney Thunder, who once looked invincible have lost a couple of matches and have consequently slid down the ladder. Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, are looking comfortablt placed at the top. Things can still change ver quickly in this closely fought tournament and both the sides would love to put another two points on the board. Comparing the two teams on paper and on based on their recent respective performances, Brisbane Heat are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
