SYTW vs BHW Match Prediction - Oct 20, 2019

Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat are each going to be playing their second game of WBBL 05. They both played against the Sydney Sixers as their first game and ended up with two very different results. Sydney Thunder was blown away by Elyse Perry and company while Brisbane Heat managed to inflict one of the heaviest defeats that the Sydney Sixers have ever faced.

Now, Brisbane Heat has an opportunity to use this momentum in its favor and beat another strong side.

Sydney Thunder Women vs Brisbane Heat Women WBBL 05 is going to be played at the North Sydney Oval on the 20th of October 2019.

SYTW vs BHW Team Previews

Sydney Thunder Women

Sydney Thunder ran into a brilliant Elyse Perry in the opening game and did not recover from that. A decent bowling lineup comprising of Shabnim Ismail, Samantha Bates, Nida Dar, and Hannah Darlington was not able to stop the Sydney Sixers from scoring freely.

This is not a bad bowling attack, though, and could do much better against the Brisbane Heat.

Shabnim Ismail is capable of picking up early wickets while Nida Dar can take care of the spin department.

Similarly, the Sydney Thunder batting did not perform while up against a large total but it is definitely not a weak lineup. Players like Rachael Haynes, Rachel Priest, Alex Blackwell, and Nida Dar are all capable of scoring runs freely.

Haynes and Blackwell are the two batters that we are looking at to make the most impact for Sydney Thunder in WBBL 05.

Rachel Priest, Naomi Stalenberg, Rachael Haynes, Alex Blackwell, Phoebe Litchfield, Nida Dar, Hannah Darlington, Rene Farrell, Lisa Griffith, Shabnim Ismail, Sam Bates.

Brisbane Heat Women

A spectacular bowling performance from Brisbane Heat helped it start its title defense with style. The batting did well to score 165 but that was not much beyond a par score, especially, looking at the Sydney Sixers batting.

Jess Jonassen, Sammy-Jo Johnson, and Amelia Kerr were fantastic with the ball and just ran through the Sydney Sixers. The spotlight may fall on the six wickets for one run shared by Amelia Kerr and Grace Harris but the contribution of the pacers should not be discounted.

If Brisbane Heat can continue bowling with such intensity in the game to come then it is going to be very hard to stop.

Beth Mooney started her tournament in style as she stroked 50 at the top of the order. She is the mainstay of this batting unit and will expect better support from Kirby Short, Grace Harris, and Jass Jonassen moving forward.

A late charge by Laura Harris helped Brisbane Heat reach 165 otherwise it could have struggled to reach 145.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions at the North Sydney Oval were excellent for batting to start with but then became pretty spinner-friendly as the game progressed. This will be the third game in three days at the surface and we could see help for the spinners from the very start.

A score of 160 odd should be considered par.
