The beauty of the WBBL is that any team can beat any other. This was proven as the Melbourne renegades became the first team to beat the Melbourne Stars in their previous match. The Renegades, though still have just two wins to their name and are in last place.
The Renegades are going to be playing against Sydney Thunder, the early front-runners of WBBL 2020 but a team that has lost its most recent three matches. In some respects, both teams would be happy to be facing each other at this stage in the tournament.
Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Renegades WBBL 2020 is going to be played at the Sydney Showground Stadium, Sydney on the 17th of November 2020.
Sydney Thunder has been on a losing streak as the team has lost its way after a great start. The great start to the WBBL was based largely on the brilliant form of Heather Knight and so it is a good sign that she scored runs in the previous match as well.
The other batters like Rachel Haynes, Tammy Beaumont, and Phoebe Litchfield need to step up now. We also think that Sydney Thunder needs to stop changing its batting order around in every match as that cannot be good for a player’s confidence.
Heather Knight is also an integral part of a strong bowling lineup that has Shabnim Ismail, Sammy-Jo Johnson, and Samantha Bates.
We don’t think a strong squad like what Thunder has is going to be kept down for long.
Tahlia Wilson, Rachael Haynes, Tammy Beaumont, Phoebe Litchfield, Rachel Trenaman, Heather Knight, Sammy Jo Johnson, Shabnim Ismail, Hannah Darlington, Sam Bates, Lauren Smith.
The Renegades pull off the upset of the season so far as it beat the Melbourne Stars in a Super-Over. That result would have surely given it a lot of confidence going into this next match against the Thunder.
Molly Strano, Ella Hayward, and Makinley Blows starred with the ball while Courtney Webb led the way with the bat. The renegades made a lot of changes to their lineup and they paid off. Lizelle Lee finally scored some runs at the top of the order, Josephine Dooley got 36, and Carly Leeson looked in good touch as well.
Whether this same batting lineup can perform against a strong bowling lineup like Sydney Thunder remains to be seen, though.
Lizelle Lee, Josie Dooley, Amy Satterthwaite, Courtney Webb, Amy Yates, Sophie Molineux, Ella Hayward, Makinley Blows, Molly Strano, Lea Tahuhu, Carly Leeson.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. We have seen the effect of a rising required run-rate be destructive on WBBL teams that play at a slower rate to begin with. Batting first is a big advantage.

The Sydney Showground Stadium has been one of the best for batting this season. The bowlers are going to have to work hard as the pitch promises to remain flat and good for batting.
We think Sydney Thunder is going to be able to win this match with relative ease. It has a better bowling attack and more talent in its batting lineup as well. Heather Knight also seems to be recovering from her mid-season slump.
Bet on the Sydney Thunder to win.
