SYTW vs MLRW Match Prediction - Oct 26, 2019

The Melbourne renegades women and the Sydney Thunder women have had a very positive start to their WBBL 05 campaign. Both sides are coming into this match with a win in their previous match and will be looking to keep the momentum going.

It may just early stages but a win in this match will help the victorious side stay firmly in the top half. Considering the close nature of the matches and the tight contest for qualifying places, every single win is going to matter in the end.

Sydney Thunder Women vs Melbourne Renegades Women WBBL 05 is going to be played at the Blacktown International Sportspark, Sydney on the 26th of October 2019.

SYTW vs MLRW Team Previews

Sydney Thunder Women

Sydney Thunder has started its tournament against two tough teams and coming off with a win in one of those matches is a big positive. There are no easy teams, though, and they cannot afford to take it easy against the Melbourne Renegades.

There were a couple of things about the Thunder win against Heat that will raise hopes in the camp. The first was the bowling performance which managed to reign in a good start from Brisbane Heat in the previous match and keep them to a par total. Shabnim Ismail bowled with pace, Samantha Bates managed to pick up three wickets, and Nida Dar also chipped in with two wickets to help seal the deal.

We like the bowling unit that Sydney Thunder has put together and there is a very good chance of it winning more matches if everyone continues to chip in like this.

Credit must be given to the batting though as Sydney Thunder chased down 150 with ease.

The stars of the show were Alex Blackwell and Phoebe Litchfield, both of whom remained not-out and took their side home. Litchfield is a new name in Australian women’s cricket and to score 52 not out under pressure shows the kind of talent she possesses.

Rachel Priest also scored 31 from just 7 deliveries at the top of the table and was able to get the momentum into the chase. A decent bowling attack and a deep batting lineup bode well for Sydney Thunder in this match against the Melbourne Renegades.

Melbourne Renegades Women

The Melbourne Renegades women are on a high after winning their last two matches comfortably. Both of those victories came while chasing and that shows that the team is ready to handle the pressure when it matters most.

Of course, neither of those two chases were very big and the bowlers have to be given most of the credit.

Sophie Molineux, Lea Tahuhu, Molly Strano, and Danielle Wyatt have all been very good with the ball. Georgia Wareham may have had an ordinary game in the previous match but she is also a very good bowler. This plentiful availability of bowling options is a big advantage for the Melbourne Renegades, particularly against a strong batting side like Sydney Thunder.

The batting is very top-heavy and needs one of its top-3 to score big. Tammy Beaumont, Sophie Molineux, and Danielle Wyatt are the engine of this batting unit. If these three fall early then it is pretty much game over for the Renegades.

All three of these players have been getting starts but the big score is still elusive.

Claire Koski, Jessica Duffin, and Courtney Webb are all capable with the bat but they are not going to be able to get you too many runs too often.

This lack of batting depth could bite the Melbourne Renegades in the matches to come.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather forecast for Sydney on match day is excellent and we should not have any weather-related interruptions. The pitch for this match should be good for batting although it is expected to be a bit on the slower side.

The outfield is also quite small so the overall par score may not go down too much. 150 should be something that teams look at the minimum batting first.

SYTW vs MLRW Betting Tips

We think that the Sydney Thunder has the advantage going into this contest. It has the better bowling attack and its batting looks deeper as well. More power at its disposal and home conditions should help it get the edge in this contest.

Bet on Sydney Thunder to win.
