SYTW vs MLSW Match Prediction - Nov 27, 2019

We are still a long way away from the knockouts in the ongoing Women's Big Bash League, but the playoff spots seem to be taken already. The top three spots are already taken by Brisbane Heat, Adelaide Strikers, and Perth Scorchers and the fight for fourth spot is still on. Sydney Thunder are still in the hunt for the lone spot, but a loss in their upcoming match would mean curtains for them. They are scheduled to play their next match on 27th November at Manuka Oval, Canebrra, against Melbourne Stars, who are placed at the bottom of the ladder. While the Stars can no longer progress in the tournament, they are certainly more than capable to spoil any team's chances. Considering that the shape of the points table hinges on this upcoming fixture, we expect a cracker of a contest on Wednesday.

SYTW vs MLSW Team Previews

Sydney Thunder Women

It's been a while since Sydney Sixers last won a match in the tournament, six matches to be precise. The Sixers had a terrific start to the tournament and were reigning the points table at one point in time, but they slowly dropped down the ladder. They are currently placed sixth with nine points to their name, thanks to four wins and one wash-out.

Thunder came close to a win in their last match, wherein Sydney Thunder failed to chase down the a competitive total set by the Strikers. The story of their chase happened to be pretty much the same as their story in the tournament so far. They started off in a fascinating manner with Rachel Priest and Rachel Haynes getting them off to a flying start. However, just when they were looking to overhaul the total with considerable ease, a mini-collapse rendered them one run short of a win.

Earlier in the match, with the ball, Thunder found themselves in a pretty tricky position halfway through the first innings. They had given away too many runs for just one wickets and were staring at a tall total to chase. They, however, bounced back with a strong performance in death overs, thanks to Darlington, who picked up three crucial wickets and stemmed the flow of runs.

Rachel Priest, Naomi Stalenberg, Alex Blackwell, Rachael Haynes, Phoebe Litchfield, Hannah Darlington, Rene Farrell, Lisa Griffith, Saskia Horley, Shabnim Ismail, Sam Bates.

Melbourne Stars Women

Melbourne Stars are already knocked out of the contention and have nothing to lose. Although they haven't performed as well as they would have liked to, they are a pretty capable team on paper. In the tournament so far, they have won just a couple of matches and have an extremely poor net run-rate of -0.752.

Contrary to what one would expect, Melbourne Stars are coming off a remarkable win in their last match, which was against the other team from Melbourne, the Renegades. Chasing a total of 165 on a decent batting surface, the Stars looked clinical in their approach as they hunted the total down with seven wickets in hand and four balls to spare.

In the tournament up until now, none of the Stars' batsmen looked in touch, but they all contributed beautifully against the Renegades. Lizelle Lee and EA Osborne were the chief architect for their win as they returned with match-winning scores of 62 and 34 to their name. With the ball, however, there wasn't much their bowlers were able to do and would have to put in a lot more effort against the Thunder.

SYTW vs MLSW Betting Tips

There isn't a stark difference between the way two teams have performed in the tournament so far. They have just one team separating the two on the ladder with Thunder at sixth and Stars at eighth spot. Based on the standings and recent performances, there's little to choose between the sides. The Stars are coming off a big win in their previous encounter and will be a confident unit. Additionaly, considering the odds, they have a pretty good reward to risk ratio on offer. Betting on a win for Stars would be the way to go in the upcoming fixture.
