After an exhilarating first round of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, we are now set to move to the second round where the teams of different groups will take on each other. The first round proved to be very exciting with all teams getting at least one win each under their belts.
The competition will march forward with three of the following matches to be played on 1st February. The second match of the day is to be played between Northern Warriors and Team Abu Dhabi at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
Team Abu Dhabi didn't end up where they would have wanted to be at the points table but would be pretty content with how they bounced back after back to back defeats. They ended the first round with two points to their name, standing at the second spot on the ladder.
TAD didn't get off to the kind of start they wanted to, losing both of their first two matches. Their batsmen never looked to be doing justice to the team they had on paper. However, going by the way they did in their third match, things could get difficult for their opponents going forward.
Team Abu Dhabi chased down a tall total of 130 with significant ease and even without most of their big guns firing. On paper, Team Abu Dhabi have a batting lineup that is second to none. Their bowlers have so far looked a little rusty and if they can get going, TAD will be the team to defeat in this competition.
Ben Duckett, Chris Gayle, Joe Clarke, Luke Wright, N Zadran, PR Stirling, Rohan Mustafa, Jamie Overton, Usman Khan, Obed McCoy, Naveen-ul-Haq.
Northern Warriors topped their group with four points and a net run-rate of 1.933. Having said that, they weren't as dominant as Qalandars were in Group B. The Warriors had a terrific last year and they certainly have the kind of team that can repeat their title win.
The Warriors had a poor start to the competition, but given how they followed up to their first outing, they'd not mind their first loss. The Warriors are coming off a terrific match wherein they smashed 162 runs batting first, the total which is highest in the tournament so far.
Just like Team Abu Dhabi, the Warriors too have a batting unit that can tonk the bowlers around at will. With Nicholas Pooran, Lendl Simmons, Rovman Powell, and Fabian Allen all doing well, the Warriors' batting lineup can be difficult to contend with. Besides, they have an experienced bowling unit to top-up their batting. Getting past Knights can be a difficult job even for the potent Team Abu Dhabi.
Nicholas Pooran, LMP Simmons, Rovman Powell, Brandon King, Waseem Muhammad, F Allen, Dhananjaya Lakshan, Wahab Riaz, RR Emrit, Wayne Parnell, Junaid Siddique.
Both sides have terrific batting lineups respectively and we can expect plenty of fireworks on Monday evening. While Team Abu Dhabi have more experienced with the bat, the Warriors have experience oozing in their bowling department. Overall, however, the Warriors appear to be a better side with almost all of their top-order batsmen being amongst the runs. For that reason and the ones stated above, betting on a Warriors' win should be the way to go here.
