Another day has gone by and we saw another string of fantastic matches in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. These are still early days in the competition and the points table is going to change going forward, but all teams have looked pretty good in the matches gone by. Group B is delicately poised at the momentum with three teams having two points each and one team one zero points.
Team Abu Dhabi are yet to get off the mark in the competition and will be desperately looking for a win when they take on Qalandars in the upcoming match. The two teams are currently placed on the opposite ends of the table and this match could prove to be tournament-defining for both sides. We expect this to be a nail-biting match, which is to be played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on 30th January 2021.
Not many would imagine a team having the likes of Chris Gayle, Luke Wright, Paul Stirling, and Ben Duckett to lose all of its batting lineups in just ten overs. However, it happened in the first match that Team Abu Dhabi played. Despite having a terrific batting lineup on paper, Team Abu Dhabi managed to score one of the lowest totals in the ongoing edition of the Abu Dhabi T20 League.
Barring Luke Wright, who looked good for his 25, no one from Team Abu Dhabi managed to stay on the wicket for good enough time. They eventually managed to score 95 runs off 9 wickets, but that score was never going to be enough and hence it proved. Their bowlers did well to drag the match to the final over and that speaks about the resilience this team has.
On paper, Team Abu Dhabi is arguably the best team in the tournament. Their batting oozes class and its failure in their first match could be seen as a one-off instance. Almost all of their batsmen are capable of slamming the ball right from the word go. With bowlers having plenty of experience and skills as well, they have an immaculately balanced team. It was surprising that they lost the first match, but beating team Abu Dhabi once again is not going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination.

Going by the performance, Qalandars are clearly the best team of the tournament thus far. They have played and won just one game thus far, but the manner they registered that win speaks volumes about how dominant they were in their only match. With two points and a net run-rate of 4.37, the Qalandars are at the top of the Group B points table.
Chasing a total of 107 in their first match, Tom Banton single-handedly sealed the deal for Qalandars. By the time Banton was dismissed, his side was in a comfortable position. With an unbeaten 13-ball 33, Sohail Akhtar sealed the deal for Qalandars. Just like Team Abu Dhabi, Qalandars have a terrific batting unit. They have batsmen who can slam sixes right from the word go and it was all seen in their match against Pune Devils.
With the ball as well, the Qalandars have the services of experienced players in Chris Jordan and Sohail Tanvir. Samit Patel was expensive against Pune, but he could play an important role in the tournament going forward. All in all, the Qalandars have a well-balanced team that has momentum with them. Beating them is not going to be easy, even for immaculately balanced Team Abu Dhabi.

While the two teams are placed at the extreme ends of the Group B points table, the real picture is a lot different. On paper, there's almost nothing to separate the two sides. Performance-wise, the Qalandars are coming off a massive win and have the momentum. Team Abu Dhabi, on the other hand, will be desperate to bounce back after facing a humiliating defeat in their opening match. It is going to be a cracker of a contest, which we expect to go down to the wire. We expect the momentum to play a key role and, therefore, Qalandars are our pick as winners for this upcoming match.
