About the Match
We have two very exciting teams facing up against each other in the KPL when the Hubli Tigers take on Namma Shivamogga. The clash will be between two teams that are currently unbeaten in the tournament and are emerging as the potential front runners at this early stage.
The Tigers may have two wins from their two matches but their last victory has raised more questions than it settled. Chasing a small total of 102 against one of the weaker bowling attacks in this tournament, the Hubli Tigers tottered over the line with just two wickets in hand and only 5 deliveries to spare.
At one point in time, the Tigers had lost 5 wickets with just 34 runs on the board.
Coming to the rescue of the Hubli Tigers were R Vinay Kumar and P Dubey. The big names in the team like Mayank Aggarwal, Anurag Bajpai and KV Siddharth who had starred in the last game all failed to score any significant runs.
This is the second top order collapse that the Tigers have faced in two games and it will surely cost them sooner or later.
The bowling attack can be proud of itself for doing the job in an organized manner where almost everyone seemed to hit the perfect line and length. R Vinay Kumar was frugal with the ball giving away only 11 runs in his four overs while Sakuja helped himself to three wickets taking his total tally to five from the two games he has played so far.
The Hubli Tigers have a strong bowling lineup that is currently keeping them in the hunt but they need to sort out their batting before it starts to cost them games.
After having to sit out the first match because of rain, the Namma Shivamogga players finally got a chance to showcase their skills and they made full use of that opportunity. The batsmen made sure to cash in after getting set led by some brilliant batting from Liyan Khan and Shoaib Manager.
Manager score 66 runs off 40 deliveries with three hits beyond the boundary while Liyan Khan scored 50 of 43 balls with two sixes to his name.
The only criticism of the players can be that they faced a bit too many dot balls and that can end up putting pressure on themselves.
R Jonathan played a brief knock of 15 runs but showed in that time that he is going to be one of the names to be reckoned with down the line.
With some big hitters still sitting in the hut, this Namma SHivamogga lineup is looking very dangerous on paper. The bowling also had a great day led by T Pradeep who started his tournament with 4 wickets. Kaushal and B Akhil were expensive and Abrar Kazi also missed his lengths frequently but a brilliant performance by Sarfaraz Ashraf was enough to compensate for all of them.
This will be the second match in two days for Namma Shivamogga and we believe this can actually be an advantage when the team is winning. The momentum builds up and allows the players to stay in a positive frame of mind without any breaks.
Pitch and Conditions
This is the rainy season in Mysore and we are going to be at the weather’s mercy for all the matches here. We can only hope that the rain relents for the duration of the match and allow a full game to be played out.
