TIT vs DOL Team Previews

Titans

In their last encounter against the Western Province outfit, Titans won the toss and elected to bat first. Their batters failed miserably against the Western Province bowling attack, to be bowled out for 157 runs. The Western Province batting line-up was rarely under pressure as they reached the target easily with 7 wickets and 113 balls to spare. After winning the toss, the Titans' side did not get off to a good start. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 157 runs eventually with none of their batters managing to score a half-century.

The top batsmen for the Titans in the match were Corbin Bosch who scored 36 not out and Donovan Ferreira who scored 30 runs. These two added some quick runs but could not convert the starts into a big score. Bosch scored 36 runs from 43 balls while Ferreira hit 30 from 23 balls. But none of the other batters from the Titans' batting order could add an innings of substance. The established batsman Aiden Markram also contributed 28 runs from 41 balls with 3 fours but again all this was not sufficient to develop a good target.

The Western Province team got to this smallish target on a canter with Tony de Zorzi scoring an unbeaten 83 from 92 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Although some of the Titans' bowlers bowled well, they were not penetrative enough to make an impression on the Western Province batters. Junior Dala, Aaron Phangiso, and Tabraiz Shamsi picked up a wicket apiece to try and put a damper on the Western Province innings, but the score was just not sufficient. These three bowlers also bowled economically but there was little hope for them with a small total on the board.

Dolphins

The Dolphins are going into this game with a couple of losses in a row. The Dolphins' outfit won the toss and elected to field first. The North West side managed to score 233 runs for 4 wickets from their quota of 47 overs. There was a rain interruption during the game and the Dolphins had to chase a revised target of 247 runs from 46.1 overs. They managed to get close to the target but lost out in the end. They could muster up 239 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. This revised target was a result of the Duckworth and Lewis method used for rain interruptions.

During the North West innings, the Dolphins' bowling attack made a great start by knocking over 4 North West batters for just 43 runs. But that was all the success they were going to see. After this terrible start, Christopher Britz and Senuran Muthusamy got together for a big partnership with Britz scoring 94 runs from 108 balls and Muthusamy scoring 88 from 94 balls. The Dolphins' bowlers did a fine job initially by hunting in a pack to get rid of 4 of North West top order batters. Eathan Bosch, Daryn Dupavillon, Othniel Baartman, and Andile Phehlukwayo picked up a wicket apiece.

The Dolphins' innings got off to a good start with the team reaching 127 for 2 at one stage from 30 overs. But the Dolphins outfit lost crucial wickets during their innings and could not find sufficient firepower in the middle and lower-middle order to get them across the line. They kept fighting till the end with Andile Phehlukwayo scoring a superb cameo of 46 runs from 32 balls with 4 sixes and 1 four. There was a good partnership for the 9th wicket as well between Phehlukwayo and Daryn Dupavillon but it was all futile in the end as they fell short by a whisker in the end.

Dolphins Playing 11

Andile Phehlukwayo, Andile Simelane, Bradley Porteous, Grant Roelofsen, Jason Smith, Ruan de Swardt, Eathan Bosch, JJ Smuts, Ottneil Baartman, Prenelan Subrayen, Tshepang Dithole.

TIT vs DOL Toss Prediction

The surface on offer at the SuperSport Park in Centurion will assist both batters and bowlers alike. The average first innings total at the venue in the last 20 matches is close to 260 runs. Although the decision to bat or bowl first will depend largely on what the team management thinks about the form of their players, it might be a good idea to bat first here. Setting a score will be a lot easier than chasing one with the pitch offering assistance to the bowlers.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface we have at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, South Africa is conducive for stroke play from batters. They will find it easy to score quick runs on this pitch. There is unlikely to be any help on offer for the bowlers, especially in the first half of the innings. Taking wickets on this track will be difficult for the bowlers. If you can consider the record of teams batting first on this ground you will find that they have scored an average of 266 runs. However, there will be some help for the bowlers from this track in the later stages of the match.

We are likely to get the maximum temperature of 25 degrees during the day tomorrow and the minimum temperatures are likely to be close to 15 degrees. There are chances of the day being cloudy and we might get some rain with thunderstorms during the match. However, rains are expected in only some areas of the city. You can expect winds in the region of 13 km/hr during the match. As there are chances of cloud cover during the game, there will be some help for the quicker bowlers from the track.
