About the Match
The Titans are in the rampaging mood at the moment, having won all of their four games played so far in the tournament. They take on Cape Cobras who have played exactly the opposite of the way Titans have. Cobras have won only one of their five games and stand at the third position from the bottom just clear of Knights and Lions. The match is scheduled to be played at 16:00 GMT on 25th November at Centurion. While the Titans have the chance to win this match and maintain their foothold on the top position, the Cobras would like to climb the table so as to make things easier for them.
The Titans have been flying high with four straight wins to their name. With experienced batsmen like Jonathan Vandiar, Heino Kuhn, and Albie Morkel and all in superb form, their batting has performed really well. More often than not, Titans have batted first and set a big target for their opponents to chase and their bowlers have responded well while defending.
In their last game, they scored 185 while batting first. To their response, The Dolphins could only muster 127 runs in their allotted quota of 20 Overs. In that match, South African international Farhan Behardien scored rapid 65 off just 33 deliveries. He was ably supported by Heino Kuhn who scored 32 off 17.
Their bowlers, too have done pretty well in restricting the opponents. Junior Dala and Shaun von Berg picked up three wickets in the last game with Lungi Ngidi and Malusi Siboto picking up a wicket each. Overall, the Titans have a strong unit which has performed brilliantly balanced nicely with the presence of superb all-rounders.
The Cobras will be up against a unit which hasn’t lost even a single game in the competition so far. Cobras, on the contrary, have managed to win only one of the five games they’ve played so far. Their last game against Dolphins was washed out by rain which resulted in points being shared. Earlier, they fell short by just three runs while chasing a target of 66 in 6 Overs against Lions.
Wayne Parnell has done well ever since he’s been promoted to open the innings. While chasing the target against Lions, Parnell batted well with good attacking support from Pollard. Things haven’t been as bright in the bowling department, though. While Rory Klienveldt and Dane Paterson bowled well, Wayne Parnell and Kieren Pollard were thwarted for runs. The Cobras’ bowlers have struggled on the field on all but one occasion. In order to dent the Titans’ progress, Cape Cobras will have to bat as well as bowl out of their skins and with experienced players available at their disposal, it won’t be surprising if they’re successful in doing so.
The two teams are facing each other for the first time this season, and both could come out with all their firepower to win this contest; while Cobras have good all-rounders, who can help set or chase a target, we feel that Dolphins with their batting power have the edge to win this round
