About the Match
Titans defeated Warriors by 8 wickets in the first semi-final of the CSA T20 to make it to the finals; they will take on Dolphins, who finished in the 2nd place, in the Finals at Centurion on 16th December. Dolphins’ semi-finals against Cape Cobras was abandoned due to rain, but they qualified for the finals based on higher position in the points table. The two teams had met earlier wherein Dolphins had won the contest by a whopping 89 runs; it needs to be seen of they can repeat their winning performance here to lift the coveted trophy on Saturday.
Spinner Tabraiz Shamsi claimed 4-32 in the semi-finals against Warriors to restrict them to 143 runs; Aiden Markram, Chris Morris, Ngidi and Albie Morkel used their skills to dismiss one opponent each while medium-pacer Junior Dala took 2 wickets to get the opposition all-out by the 19th over. Aiden Markram showcased his all-rounder skills by posting an unbeaten 56 to steer his team across the finish line. AB de Villiers also contributed with 54 runs while Heinrich Klaasen pitched in with 24 runs to help them win the match by 8 wickets.
They have experienced batsmen like Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers, Farhaan Behardien, Albie Morkel and Chris Morris; the in-form middle-order can keep the scoreboard ticking in the upcoming match too. Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen are in good form and stabilize the top-order. When they played against Dolphins, the batting line-up collapsed like a pack of cards while chasing 168 and they suffered a humiliating defeat by 89 runs.
Fast-bowlers Morne Morkel and David Wiese took 3 wickets between them against Dolphins; spinner Shaun von Berg dismissed 2 opponents while Junior Dala also continued with his wicket-taking abilities, taking 2 wickets. They have a balanced bowling attack that can outwit the Dolphins this time around.
Morne van Wyk and Dane Vilas did well to post 70 and 51 runs respectively against Knights in the last match to successfully chase down 169 runs. Robbie Frylinck pitched in with 27 runs and helped steer the team across the finish line. Earlier, spinners Imran Tahir and Keshav Maharaj restricted the opponents by taking 3 wickets between them while Andile Phehlukwayo used his pace skills to take 1 wicket.
P Subrayen, Imran Tahir and Keshav Maharaj are in good form with spin and they had together wreaked havoc on the Titans batsmen when they met each other before. The three spinners had taken 2 wickets to restrict Titans to 79 all-out, defending 168 runs successfully. M Shezi, Robbie Frynlick, Phehlukwayo and Khaya Zondo dismissed one opponent each to help them wrap up a win by a big margin.
They are a determined unit with several match-winners, who give the team the edge they need to win the title here.
The Dolphins have conquered Titans before and they are equipped to overcome challenges on Saturday too; while the contest could go down to the wire, we feel that Titans with their super batting and in-form bowling attack are better placed to emerge victorious.
