TKR vs JT Team Previews

Trinbago Knight Riders

The Trinbago Knight Riders were without Dwayne Bravo in the opening match of the CPL and it looks like he is going to be missing at least another couple of games. The side emerged winner but would not have been very pleased with its performance.

The batting was not very good and it took a brilliant counter-attack from Kieron Pollard to get the side to a competitive total. We were quite disappointed to see Pollard come in to bat at number six. He is in the form of his life and can be much more destructive if he bats up the order.

The two other performers for Trinbago Knight Riders were Jimmy Neesham and Denesh Ramdin. Both of them batted with a good understanding of the match situation and were able to get their runs at a decent pace as well.

Ramdin showed a huge improvement in his batting during the previous CPL and it looks like his form is going to continue this year also.

A varied bowling attack gives the Trinbago Knight Riders a lot of options. Mohammad Hasnain has serious pace, something he can use to his advantage against Andre Russell, while Sunil Narine, Khary Pierre, and Seekuuge Prasanna are a very good set of spinners.

Jimmy Neesham and even Kieron Pollard rolled his arm over during the previous match. This is not a bowling attack that is going to be feared but it should be enough to do the job on most occasions.

Jamaica Tallawahs

We are very excited to see what the Jamaica Tallawahs bring to the table in CPL 2019. They have added Chris Gayle to their side alongside Andre Russel, Rovman Powell, Chadwick Walton, and Glenn Phillips. This is quite possibly the strongest and most fearsome batting lineup in the entire Caribbean Premier League.

Gayle may not have the same kind of consistency as he used to but he is still a force to be reckoned with. In George Worker and Chadwick Walton, the Jamaica Tallawahs have two very accomplished T20 batsmen.

The real thrust in the batting is going to come from Rovman Powell and Andre Russell, both fast-bowling all-rounders that can change the game in a matter of seconds with either discipline. One of the things that Andre Russell was quite vocal about during the recent IPL season was a need for him to come and bat up the order.

Hopefully, he is going to be able to that with the Jamaica Tallawahs and have as big an impact on the CPL as possible.

The bowling unit has a lot of all-rounders as well as out and out bowlers like Oshane Thomas and Jerome Taylor. If there is a weakness that we can see in the Jamaica Tallawahs side then it is the lack of an established T20 spinner.

Zahir Khan from Afghanistan is a part of the squad but he is not going to be available for the first couple of matches as he is on international duty.

Pitch and Conditions

Trinbago Knight Riders vs Jamaica Tallawahs CPL 2019 is going to be played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on the 6th September 2019. An excellent day for cricket has been in Port of Spain on the day of the match.

The chances of rain are minimal and we should get a full match in. The pitch for the first match was a bit slow but still god for batting overall. The slower bowlers were difficult to get away as well as fast bowlers that used a lot of cutters.

A score of around 170 should be pretty competitive on this surface.
