These are early days in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League, but Tribango Knight Riders have already made an impression. They have now won two matches in a row and will be looking to add another win to their name when they take on St. Lucia Zouks in an upcoming CPL game on Sunday, 8th September. The match between the two sides is to be played at Queen's Parks Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad. Unlike the Knight Riders, St. Lucia Zouks haven't had a good time in the tournament so far and have lost the only match they played. Considering that only a win here will keep them in the top-four, they'll come out all guns blazing in this upcoming fixture.
Over the years, The Knight Riders have arguably been the best side of the tournament and are the defending champions. They have started from where they left off in the last season and will certainly be looking to repeat the same feat in this season. Led by Kieron Pollard, the Knight Riders have match-winners available right through their order which has been the difference between them and other sides in the past three years.
Considering how well they've done in the competition so far, the Knight Riders are likely to go in with the same playing eleven against St Lucia Zouks as well. The decision of promoting Tion Webster in the previous match proved to be a masterstroke as he single-handedly carried their batting lineup with a superb 66-run knock. Sunil Narine also contributed with a quick-fire 46. Batting Narine in the top of the order provides depth to their batting lineup, which can often be a difference between a win and a loss.
With the likes of Denesh Ramdin, Kieron Pollard, and James Neesham available in the middle order makes their batting unit a force to deal with. Bowling wise, the inclusion of Ali Khan has certainly increased their penetration power in the opening as well as the death overs. While the absence of Dwayne Bravo can be a game-changer, they have an experienced trio of Pierre, Narine, and Prasanna, who all can be dangerous on their day, especially in the conditions favoring spin bowling.
Denesh Ramdin, Kieron Pollard, LMP Simmons, Tion Webster, SP Narine, James Neesham, S Prasanna, Mohammad Hasnain, Khary Pierre, J Searles, Anderson Phillip.
St Lucia Zouks haven't gotten off to the kind of start they wanted and would be looking to kickstart their campaign with a win in this upcoming fixture. They are currently placed fourth on the points table with zero points and a negative net run-rate of -0.65.
St Lucia Zouks are coming off a heavy defeat at the hands of Guyana Amazon Warriors wherein they failed to chase down a pretty manageable total of 155 runs. While their bowling did pretty well in that match, it was their batting which messed up the chase as St Lucia Zouks lost the match despite being in a considerably good position at the half-way stage.
On paper, the Zouks certainly lack an experienced as well as an explosive top-order, which proved to be a massive limitation in their last match. While Andre Fletcher and Rahkeem Cornwall both can hit the ball a long way, their struggle in not-so-good batting conditions has always been apparent. The likes of Thisara Perera, Najibullah Zadran, and Darren Sammy would have to take more responsibility with the bat for the Zouks to do well in not only the next fixture but in all their upcoming fixture. They have a pretty good bowling unit and if their batting can step up their game, the Zouks can be a force to deal with.
ADS Fletcher , DJG Sammy, John Campbell, N Zadran, Andre McCarthy, Thisara Perera, Rahkeem Cornwall, Kavem Hodge, KOK Williams, Obed McCoy, Fawad Ahmed.
