TKR vs SNP Match Prediction - Sep 04, 2019

The Caribbean Premier League 2019 is about to get underway and we are very excited to see how this year’s editions pans out. There have been a number of changes to the squads, players have moved to their home franchises (something that should inspire more loyalty from the fans), and the build-up has had its fair share of turmoil as well.

As they say, though, let the biggest party in cricket begin!

The defending CPL champions, Trinabgo Knight Riders will be playing the first match of CPL 2019. A couple of smart additions to the squad have made the Knight Riders even stronger ahead of this season. They will be facing the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, a side that was disappointing in the previous season and has had some major changes in the team personnel.

Trinbago Knight Riders vs St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots CPL 2019 is going to be played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on the 4th of September 2019.

TKR vs SNP Team Previews

Trinbago Knight Riders

The Trinbago Knight Riders won the previous edition of the CPL convincingly and it is going to be very hard to stop them this season as well. They are going to starting with a couple of player availability concerns since Darren Bravo is with the West Indian test team and Colin Munro is in Sri Lanka with the New Zealand T20 side.

We think Darren Bravo will be able to make it to the squad in time, though, and Lendl Simmons has been included as cover for Colin Munro for the first three TKR matches.

There is plenty of batting strength in the side with Kieron Pollard, Jimmy Neesham, Lendl Simmons, Denesh Ramdin, Darren Bravo, and Sunil Narine in the side. We think Kieron Pollard has been in terrific batting form off-late and is going to be the most important player for TKR this season.

The bowling unit of TKR was already quite formidable thanks to players like Dwayne Bravo, Ali Khan, Sunil Narine, and Khary Pierre being in the squad. They have now added Mohammad Hasnain, a young Pakistani tear-away who had an excellent PSL and even made it to the Pakistani national side.

The Trinbago Knight Riders seem to have most of the bases covered. It is now a question of starting CPL 2019 well and hitting their stride early.

LMP Simmons, Denesh Ramdin, Kieron Pollard, James Neesham, S Prasanna, SP Narine, Tion Webster, Khary Pierre, Anderson Phillip, J Searles, Mohammad Hasnain.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

Isuru Udana was picked by the Patriots during the CPL 2019 draft but he is not going to be available because of his international commitments. Alzarri Joseph comes into the side as a replacement, a pretty fair swap in our opinion.

There are a couple of holes in the Patriots batting especially now that Chris Gayle has departed from the franchise. Evin Lewis scored some runs against India and the Patriots would be desperately hoping he can start CPL 2019 well. Evin Lewis was in terrible form previous season and struggled to get any runs on the board.

With Gayle gone, his role in the side becomes very important.

The Patriots have added Carlos Brathwaite to the side, a good addition considering his recent batting exploits in limited-overs cricket. Mohammad Hafeez may be past his prime but he is still a dangerous all-rounder and will need to lead with the bat as well.

Shamarh Brooks, Fabien Allen, and Devon Thomas are decent players but they are not going to give any side the shivers.

The bowling attack looks a lot better thanks to Sheldon Cottrell, Rayad Emrit, Fabien Allen, Mohammad Hafeez, Carlos Brathwaite, and Usama Mir likely to be in the playing eleven. The best-case scenario for the Patriots appears to be one where the bowlers are able to keep the TKR batsmen in check to make things easy for their own batting unit.

Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Kjorn Ottley, DC Thomas, Mohammad Hafeez, Carlos Brathwaite, Usama Mir, RR Emrit, F Allen, Sheldon Cottrell, Alzarri Joseph.
