Smith and Munaweera capable to give a good start whether they chase or bat first; they have the mettle to withstand the weapons of the Red Steel bowlers. Pollard, Misbah and Holder can stabilize the innings and control the run rate while the lower order is also capable of contributing with the bat should the situation arise. They have a very formidable bowling attack led by Rampaul and Holder; Peterson, Emrit and Pollard have been dependable support bowlers who can pressurize the batsmen. They are quick on the field and have the capability to restrict the run-flow, forcing the opponent to struggle.
They will try to keep their winning momentum going so that the last match against the Warriors would be of no consequence. They know how to face pressure situations and stifle the opponent, as the case may be; with players like Smith, Pollard, Misbah and Holder, who can take the battle to the opponent’s court, they definitely have the edge here. Having been consistent throughout the league, they are bound to perform well and remain at the top of the table to get a direct entry to the finals .
Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel
Though the match against Zouks was reduced to nine overs, they should have applied themselves to the situation and posted more runs on the board. Except for Kallis, no one else could capitalize on the opportunity and lost wickets regularly without adding much to the total. The Bravo duo tried their best at the end but did not have much left to carry out with the leather hunt.
Badree, Benn and Cooper could not dislodge the batting line up of Zouks, which cost them the match. The Tridents are a formidable lot who have a strong top order, with the capacity to stay at the wicket and unsettle the bowlers.
Red Steel have experienced players like Kallis, Delport and the Bravo brothers who can apply themselves to build good partnerships; if bating first, they must post a challenging total in order to improve their Net Run Rate and then bowl tightly without allowing much breathing space for the Trident batsmen.
Red Steel face a must-win situation and must perform well to keep their hopes alive; Tridents, on the other hand are in a favorable situation and is a formidable team to reckon with. If Red Steel can focus on overcoming their weak points improve their batting, they do have the opportunity to come out victorious. We think that the table-toppers, Barbados Tridents, will continue to win and maintain their winning spree
