About the Match
The Kingston ground is all set to come alive on 17th Aug when St.Lucia Zouks take T&T Red Steel head-on in a crucial do or die match for both the teams. Though T&T Red Steel have exhibited improved performances in the last two matches that they won, they will need to fight it out with St.Lucia to reserve a berth in the semi-finals. The Zouks on the other hand barely managed their second win by a breather yesterday and will need to come out with all guns blazing to keep their campaign alive. Meanwhile, Team T&T has come back fiercely after 3 losses and registered two wins, giving them the much needed boost.
St. Lucia Zouks :
The Zouks are pumped up after yesterday’s win against Antigua by the D/L method. After losing 3 matches consecutively, their recent win has boosted their confidence and they are hungry for more success. Misbah has been in good form and has proved his worth in the team outings so far. His brilliant knock of 49 off 33 balls against Guyana saw the team register their first win of the series early on. It’s up to openers Fletcher, who made 76 off 53 balls yesterday, and Tamim Iqbal to anchor the innings early on and set up a formidable competition for their opponents. In-form bowlers like Mathurin and skipper Sammy will need to strategize and support their batsmen till the finish.
Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel:
After a miserable start, Dwayne Bravo’s men have shown turnaround performances, especially batsmen like Kevin O’Brien and Adrian Barath. Coupled by Nicolas Pooran’s heroic efforts that earned him the fastest innings award, the team has shown that they will not go down without a fight. Dwayne, with his insightful captaincy has instilled a winning attitude in his team members and recorded some close wins. The tight bowling unit is all charged up and has peaked at the right time. Bravo, Edwards and Johnson have a few tricks up their sleeves, which have worked pretty well for them. Can they repeat their wicket taking performances and support their batsmen? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, all eyes are on Bravo, who has so far rightfully trusted his instincts in team selection and strategy.
Having already tasted success in very close encounters, Red Steel is high on energy and is backed up by brilliant performances in all three orders of the game. The match promises to be interesting and is expected to be a nail-biting finish as witnessed in the other games that T&T has played in this league till now. Can the Zouks bring their best foot forward and turn their fate around? We need to wait and find that out in tomorrow’s challenge of nerves that is sure to keep you at the edge of your seats. It certainly appears like a battle among equals, but due to above mentioned factors T&T Red Steels look better placed to win this crucial match tomorrow.
