TSC vs NSW Match Prediction - Mar 17, 2021

This next match is going to be an exciting one in the Marsh ODI Cup 2021 tournament. Tasmania is going to play New South Wales and both teams are in very good form. NSW is unbeaten so far with two wins out of three matches (one match rained-out) and Tasmania has two wins out of three matches as well.

The result of this match is going to be pretty important in the context of the overall tournament.

Tasmania vs New South Wales Marsh ODI Cup 2021 is going to be played at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart on the 18th of March 2021.

TSC vs NSW Team Previews

Tasmania

Tasmania blew away South Australia in its previous match thanks to a stunning bowling performance. Tom Andres continued to have an excellent tournament and picked up three wickets while Jackson Bird, Rilee Meredith, and Jarrod Freeman were in the wickets as well.

We have already seen some strong performances from Nathan Ellis as well making the Tasmania bowling attack a very strong one.

The weaker part of the Tasmania team is its batting unit. Tim Paine has been getting starts without really making a big score and the same can be said for Caleb Jewell, Jake Doran, and Macallister Wright.

Jordan Silk is the only player that is really making a big impact on a regular basis.

We fear that Tasmania may be outgunned against a strong NSW unit that can put up big runs and has a great bowling attack too.

Tasmania Playing 11

Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Matthew Wade, Tim Paine, Jordan Silk, Beau Webster, TD Andrews, Nathan Ellis, Jackson Bird, Peter Siddle, Riley Meredith.

New South Wales

NSW has been the team to beat so far. They welcomed back David Warner in the previous match and he immediately responded with 87 at the top of the order. Moises Henriques, Matthew Gilkes, Kurtis Patterson, Jack Edwards, and Oliver Davies are all excellent batsmen as well.

We are not sure if Steve Smith is going to play this match or not but if he is then the batting unit is exponentially stronger.

NSW has a stronger batting lineup than Tasmania for sure.

The bowling attack is led by Pat Cummins, arguably the best seam bowler in the world, and is supported by Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshius, Nathan Lyon, and Liam Hatcher. The bowling attack is good enough to compete with most international teams!

There is a massive gulf in the kind of talent that NSW possesses and what Tasmania has. However, cricket is not just about talent but about execution. NSW is still going to have to play better to win and cannot take anything for granted.

New South Wales Playing 11

David Warner, M Gilkes, Moises Henriques, Kurtis Patterson, Oliver Davies, Nick Larkin, Sean Abbott, Pat Cummins, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Michael Lyon, Liam Hatcher.

TSC vs NSW Toss Prediction

Winning the toss and batting first has been the way that most teams have preferred to operate. The pitch at the Bellerive Oval is not going to change much and we don’t think there is any big advantage to be gained by batting first or bowling first.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather forecast for this match is excellent and we are sure we will get a full contest in. The pitch is expected to be very good for batting with maybe a bit of extra bounce in it. Both teams have some fast bowlers that can take advantage of this extra bounce and make life difficult for the opposing batsmen.

A score of around 260-280 seems to be something that teams batting first will be reasonably happy with.

TSC vs NSW Betting Tips

We think New South Wales should be able to win this match if all of its top players are available. If for some reason, Warner and Smith are not playing then you should take a punt on Tasmania. As per the current information that we have, we recommend sticking with New South Wales in this contest.

Bet on New South Wales to win.
