TSC vs SAC Match Prediction - Nov 30, 2022

With no win yet in the Sheffield Shield, South Australia is in a tough spot on the ladder at fifth place. In five matches, they’ve lost two and drawn three, but there is certainly potential for a big victory.

Tasmania is second on the ladder with two wins, two draws, and one loss, but can they keep up the good momentum to get a convincing victory over SA?

TSC vs SAC Team Previews

Tasmania

Tasmania is in great form after handily defeating Victoria in the last SS matchup, so they’ve got to feel good heading into this game against SA.

As always, Tim Ward and Jordan Silk will be the danger batters here, with Ward especially on fire after scoring close to a century in his last four matches. Silk has been a bit more up and down with regard to his performance, but he did score 154* against Victoria, so he can rarely be doubted.

The re-emergence of Matthew Wade has really boosted the side’s batting, as his 146 and 41 runs against NSW displayed that he’s still one of the best batters in the game today. Caleb Jewell and Jake Doran have also been playing great lately, which goes to show just how deep Tasmania’s batting squad actually is.

Much of the bowling will fall on the shoulders of pacers Jackson Bird and Peter Siddle in this contest. Both have been bowling out of their minds lately and SA should be very concerned during their overs. Bird took 4/13 & 4/54 against Victoria, while Siddle was no slouch either with 2/33 & 3/34.

Tasmania Playing 11

Ben McDermott, BJ Webster, Tim Ward, Caleb Jewell, Jackson Bird, Jake Doran, Jarrod Freeman, Jordan Silk, Matthew Wade, Peter Siddle, Riley Meredith.

South Australia Redbacks

Both Alex Carey and Travis Head will be away for international duties, so that leaves the SA squad a little more depleted than usual. Still, there’s a decent squad that can challenge Tasmania only if everything goes perfectly.

The recent performances of batters Jake Weatherald and Jake Carder leave much to be desired, as they’ve struggled to get consistent runs and help their team to victory. They do provide help, but it will be up to the likes of Henry Hunt to really push SA towards a win. Hunt was a bit underwhelming in the Australia A vs. the West Indies, scoring just 15 runs overall, but he’s usually reliable in the Sheffield Shield.

Where South Australia has been shining lately is with the ball, as both Nathan McAndrew and Brendan Doggett have been bowling incredibly well. McAndrew took 5/93 against Queensland and really helped his state get the draw. Doggett has taken 17 wickets in his last six games, so he may be able to spark SA into a good fight.

South Australia Redbacks Playing 11

Benjamin Manenti, Brendan Doggett, Henry Hunt, Thomas Kelly, Daniel Drew, Harry Nielsen, Jake Weatherald, Jake Lehmann, Nathan McAndrew, Nathan McSweeney, Wes Agar.

Pitch and Conditions

It’s a fairly flat pitch that never sees much bounce, so batters tend to have a great time here and make huge scores.

TSC vs SAC Betting Tips

South Australia have been plucky of late, but as two of their best players are out for international duties, and everyone else has been a bit out of sorts, it’s hard to see this state getting their first win over Tasmania. McAndrew and Hunt are the star players, but it seems unreasonable that they’ll be enough to force a victory.

Tasmania has so many great batters and a formidable bowling attack, so it looks like they’ll cruise past South Australia without much effort. There are a few batters they’ll need to be careful of, but the talent and experience are enough for Tasmania to prove how good they are.

Bet on Tasmania to win.
