TT vs WNI Match Prediction - Nov 05, 2022

The ongoing season of the Super50 is well and truly underway, and we have an exciting matchup on our hands, as Trinidad and Tobago face the Windward Islands in the battle of the top 2 in Zone A.

As both the teams are in good form, this will be a difficult match to call. Let’s have a look at both teams in some detail.

TT vs WNI Team Previews

Trinidad & Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago are the defending champions of the Super50 Cup and have displayed some good cricket this season too. While the opening match saw them winning comfortably against Combined Campuses, they lost the second match played against Guyana by a narrow margin of 3 runs.

Jason Mohammed, who was the top scorer in the league last season, has failed to get a big score so far. Nicholas Pooran and Joshua Da Silva haven’t been up to the mark. Kjorn Ottley has been good at the top of the batting line-up, scoring 114 runs, while Sunil Narine scored a handy inning of 30 runs in Trinidad's loss against Guyana. A lot will rest on Narine’s wicket-taking abilities if Trinidad wants to win this game.

He, along with Shannon Gabriel, is the top wicket-taker for Trinidad this season.

Windward Islands

The Windward Islands have had a great start to the season, winning both its opening matches by a comfortable margin. As a result, it sits comfortably at the top of the Zone A table with 4 points.

Alick Athanze has been in superb form, scoring centuries in both the opening matches. He, along with Kavem Hodge put up a 208 partnership in the match against the Combined Campuses and Colleges to propel the Windward Islands to a winning total of 300 runs. Hodge scored a century of his own in that match and is the second-highest run-getter this season after Athanze.

The bowling has been right too, with Sadrack Descarte being the pick of the bowlers, picking up 3 wickets. He didn’t get a chance to bowl in the last match. Kenneth Dember has been quite economical with his off breaks and has also picked up 2 wickets, while Kavem Hodge displayed his all-round abilities by picking up a wicket in each game.

TT vs WNI Toss Prediction

The teams batting second hold a slight edge at the Queen’s Park Oval. Therefore, the captain winning the toss will like to chase here.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at Port of Spain is flat and easy to bat on. We are likely to see a high-scoring match here. However, the quick bowlers might enjoy the good bounce on offer, and the spinners too might find some help later on as the match progresses.

A score of around 240-250 can be considered a par score, but the team batting first would like to get closer to 300 just to be safe. While the temperature is expected to remain in the 20s, there is a rain forecast for the weekend, and we might see some interruptions and even DLS in action.
