The Momentum ODI Cup 2020 has got off to a relatively quiet start with most of the results going as expected. The South African national side is also playing a high-profile series at the same time and the entire squad is looking to rebuild. This makes performances in the Momentum ODI Cup very important.
In this match, we have two teams that have started the tournament with contrasting fortunes. The Titans lost their opening match by 73 runs while the Dolphins registered an emphatic 94 run victory against the Knights.
The task ahead of the Titans is not easy but an improved performance can be expected. Will it be enough to stop the Dolphins, though?
Titans vs Dolphins Momentum ODI Cup 2020 is going to be played at SuperSport Park, Centurion on the 7th of February 2020.
The Titans lost in the first match was a bit of an upset as they seemed to have a stronger team than the Lions on paper. Big names like Dean Elgar, Heinrich Klaasen, Farhaan Behardien, and Tabraiz Shamsi could not combine to get their side a win.
For this next match, there are some changes that are going to be made to the side. Tabraiz Shamsi is with the South African national side and will have to be replaced. Most of the other players, though, are going to be available for this match.
The Titans have a pretty strong batting lineup on paper. They have players like Henry Davids, Theunis de Bruyn, Tony de Zorzi, and a very strong middle order to follow. We don’t think this batting lineup is going to fall short of runs too many times.
Henry Davids, Theunis de Bruyn, and Heinrich Klaasen all got out in their forties in the previous match. Spending a decent time at the crease would have helped their confidence and we think one of these players can be counted on to make it big against the Dolphins.
Hardus Viljoen and Tabraiz Shamsi are going to be taking the mantle of leadership in the bowling department. Ngidi is returning back from injury and has stated his ambition to come back better than he ever was. Both he and Hardus Viljoen have plenty of experience of playing top-flight cricket and will back themselves to perform better than they did in the previous match.
The supporting cast of bowlers looks a little weak, though, and could be targeted by the Dolphins.
Heinrich Klaasen, Farhaan Behardien, Henry Davids, Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, Dayyaan Galiem, GM Thomson, Hardus Viljoen, Alfred Mothoa, TL Moreki, Imran Manack.
The Dolphins went into the match against Knights as clear favorites but struggled a fair bit before getting over the line. A clutch of wickets at the start meant that the Dolphins were reduced to 122 for 7 before Keshav Maharaj and Prenelan Subrayen rescued the side.
That the pair of them would combine for almost half of the runs that the Dolphins scored is not something many people would have expected!
Sarel Erwee, Vaughn van Jaarsveld, and Khaya Zondo are the batsmen to watch out for in this match. We don’t think the Dolphins have a batting lineup that is significantly stronger than the Titans. The all-rounders in the middle-order help things and give the side some depth but there are plenty of weaknesses that can be targeted by opposing teams.
Perhaps the biggest advantage that the Dolphins have is their bowling attack. Keshav Maharaj, Imran Tahir, Robbie Frylinck, and Kerwin Mungroo are all coming off a brilliant performance in the previous match.
Imran Tahir picked up four wickets for just 33 runs in his ten overs and was near unplayable!
In fact, the fifth bowler was not really required for the Dolphins in the previous match. If the Dolphins can continue to bowl in a similar manner, then they are going to be very hard to stop.
Kerwin Mungroo, K Maharaj, Okuhle Cele, Imran Tahir, R Frylinck, Senuran Muthusamy, Khaya Zondo, Sarel Erwee, VBV Jaarsveld, Marques Ackerman, Grant Roelofsen.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first with all the rain around.

A lot of rain has been forecast for match day in Centurion and it looks like we are going to struggle to get any game time whatsoever. The surface at SuperSport Park is generally good for batting although it does have a little something for the spinners towards the end of the inning.
It is unlikely that we will get anywhere close to a hundred overs, though, and a no-result seems like the result to expect tomorrow.
Dream11 tips and Dream11 prediction for Titans vs Dolphins Momentum ODI Cup 2020
We are predicting a lot of rain and waiting around for the game to start. The forecast for most parts of South Africa calls for rain and so a miraculous sunny day is not something to hold your breath for. Purely on the basis of the strengths of the two teams, we think that the Titans have a good chance of winning this match.
