It is a huge shame that Australia is not going to be able to tour South Africa in the coming weeks and it will leave cricket poorer as a whole. However, South Africa is going to be able to provide all of its best players to its own T20 competition, the CSA T20 Challenge 2021, and be able to put forward a better product.
The opening match is going to be played between the Titans and the Knights. The Titans have the big names and the crowd pullers while the Knights are a more under-rated team. It will be interesting to see which one of them is going to be able to get off to a better start in the tournament.
Titans vs Knights CSA T20 Challenge 2021 is going to be played at Kingsmead, Durban on the 19th of February 2021.
The Titans come into this series with a star-studded lineup. Their batting is going to be led by Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar, and Heinrich Klaasen. While Markram is in excellent form after scoring runs in Pakistan, Elgar and Klaasen are domestic giants as well.
Elgar would love to figure in the conversation for the T20 World Cup while Klaasen was chosen to lead the South African team for the series against Pakistan.
Henry Davids, Theunis de Bruyn, and Chris Morris all add a lot of power and depth to the team’s batting lineup and it looks much stronger to us than what the Knights have.
Tabraiz Shamsi recently became the number two ranked T20 bowler in the world. He is going to be a part of the Titans lineup alongside Simon Harmer, Lungi Ngidi, and Junior Dala. Once more, this is pretty close to an all international attack.
The Titans have the personnel to make a big impact in this tournament. All that remains is to see whether they are able to execute their skills properly.
Dean Elgar, Aiden Markram, Theunis de Bruyn, Chris Morris, Sibonelo Makhanya, Heinrich Klaasen, Dayyaan Galiem, Tabraiz Shamsi, Gregory Mahlokwana, Lungi Ngidi, Lizaad Williams.
The Knights have a tough task ahead of them in this match. They are up against a full-strength Titans team, something that does not happen very often in the CSA T20 Challenge. The Knights will be hoping that Jacques Snyman, Grant Mokoena, Raynard van Tonder, and Farhaan Behardien are able to provide the runs necessary to keep them in the game.
Pite van Biljon is also a decent batsman although he has to juggle the additional responsibilities of wicketkeeping and captaining the side as well.
There is some experience and some international quality in the team but the overall strength is quite low.
Ferisco Adams, Patrick Kruger, Shaun von Berg, and Gerald Coetzee are going to be a part of the bowling attack. This is a spin-heavy attack that depends a lot on the all-rounders to chip in.
At some level, this abundance of all-rounders adds balance and depth to the team but the quality of the specialists seems a bit lacking. The Knights appear to us as a middling team that has some good players but not enough to consistently pose a threat to other teams in the CSA T20 Challenge.
Ferisco Adams, Farhaan Behardien, Mbulelo Budaza, AGS Gous, Patrick Kruger, Grant Mokoena, Alfred Mothoa, Jacques Snyman, Migael Pretorius, PJ van Biljon, Shaun von Berg.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to field first. The pitch should be good for batting and remain that way for the duration of the match.

There is a very slight chance of rain predicted and so we think it is safe to assume that there are not going to be any interruptions during the game. The pitch is going to be good for batting. It has a nice amount of pace and carry in it that allows the batsmen to play through the line.
The outfield is also always lightning fast.
The bowlers will be able to get something if they bend their backs. Among the spinners, the wrist-spinners are going to be tougher to play as they get some added bounce to trouble the batsmen.
We have no hesitation in backing the Titans in this match. They have a stronger batting lineup, a better bowling attack, and a lot more international experience to bank upon.
Bet on the Titans to win.
