The Momentum ODI Cup 2019 is coming towards its final stages and we have two teams at the opposite end of the spectrum competing in this match. The Titans have been the most successful team in this tournament and have won four out of the six matches they have played. They are going to be up against the Lions in this match, a side that has comfortably been the worst side this season.
The Lions have won just one match out of their completed five. The Lions have also been involved in more rained-out matches than any other side in this competition.
The Titans are all but guaranteed of a first-place finish already while the Lions still have a slim chance of qualifying if they win both their remaining matches by a decent margin.
The Titans continued to flex their batting muscles in the Momentum ODI Cup 2019. They scored 300 runs in their previous match against the Dolphins, a very decent bowling side, and then proceeded to bowl out the Dolphins for just 230.
It was a complete performance from the Titans that should have sent shivers down the spines of all their opponents.
Heino Kuhn scored 107 runs from just 98 balls to be the highest scorer for the Lions in the previous match but he is far from the only threat in this batting lineup. Players like Elgar, Kuhn, Klaasen, Behardien, and Morris makes the Titans batting very formidable.
Any one of these players could play a match-winning role for the Titans.
We think that Klaasen and Elgar are going to be the biggest threat to the Lions in this match and we would advise backing them to be the highest scorers.
Chris Morris, Farhaan Behardien, and some pretty useful lower order batters gives enough power to the Titans to be able to come through in crunch time if needed.
Junior Dala picked up 5 wickets in the previous match to break the back of the opposition batting. Dean Elgar is not the name that you would expect to see with four wickets to his name but that is what he ended up with in the previous game.
Chris Morris, Junior Dala, Shaun Von Berg, Tshepo Moreki, and some good part-timers help provide the balance to a very strong Titans side.
JD Vandiar, DS Rosier, Rivaldo Moonsamy, Dean Elgar, Farhaan Behardien, GM Thomson, Kabelo Sekhukhune, Junior Dala, Marcello Piedt, Alfred Mothoa, Corbin Bosch.
A close loss by three runs against the Cape Cobras would have hit the Lions hard. They ended not getting any points from the next match due to rain and are now in a position where they may not qualify even if they win both their remaining matches.
There are some excellent match winners in the Lions side that need to perform at a very high level to be able to get past the Titans. Temba Bavuma, Dominic Hendricks, and Dwayne Pretorius are the three names that come to mind immediately.
Bavuma has been in excellent batting form while both Pretorius and Hendricks played significant innings in the previous match. Hendricks made 107 while Pretorius made 99 and almost helped the Lions recover from a hopeless position.
The real problem has been the lack of runs from the middle order. The Lions need to find a way to get their senior players firing at the same time because that is the only way they are going to be in contention against the Titans.
The Lions bowling is also not the strongest. Fortuin, Pretorius, Phangiso, and Siboto are a good bowling lineup but definitely not one that is going to scare any opponents. The Titans have a very strong batting lineup and it is not going to be easy for the Lions to keep them quiet.
We are backing Fortuin and Pretorius to be the impact players for Lions in this match and they are the ones to back in the bowling department.
Dominic Hendricks, Kagiso Rapulana, Wihan Lubbe, Temba Bavuma, PWA Mulder, NJ Van den Bergh, Delano Potgieter, Bjorn Fortuin, Aaron Phangiso, MP Siboto, Nandre Burger.
The side winning the toss is likely to want to field first

The Momentum Cup ODI 2019 match between the Titans and the Lions is going to be played at Willowmoore Park, Benoni. The weather forecast for Benoni on match day is pretty good. There is very little chance of rain and the temperatures should be comfortable for both sets of players.
The pitch in Benoni is usually excellent for batting and we think the par score is going to be around 300 for sure.
The Lions will have the motivation to try and win this match more than the Titans and that is something we think matters a lot. The availability of all the South African superstars is going to be a big advantage also.
We think it is worthwhile taking a punt on the Lions even though they do not have the strongest bowling lineup in this match.
Back the Lions to win.
